Whether you’re a fan of CBS’s Elementary spin on Sherlock Holmes or not, it sure gave a nice amount screen-time to cellphones in its pilot. While there was prominent use of iPhones in the episode, we’re highlighting a seemingly forced Nokia Lumia 800 cameo — you’d think it would at least be the 900 being an American series. The camera takes a tight shot of Sherlock swiping through photos on a murder victim’s black Lumia twice, highlighting the Nokia logo and Windows Phone 7.5 gallery interface. Most Windows Phone enthusiasts have their sights set on large trophy-like targets, but if you have more modest goals in mind, then US Cellular’s latest acquisition might be just what the doctor ordered. If the device pictured above looks familiar, that’s because it should. Rebranded as the Render, most of you know this handset as the ZTE Orbit, an entry-level device that features a 4-inch 800 x 480 display, a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a 5-megapixel camera and Windows Phone 7.5 Tango. So, if US Cellular is your wireless carrier of choice and you’re seriously crushing on Windows Phone, the ZTE Render will run you $80 after a $100 mail-in rebate.

The optical nous of the Lumia 920 won’t just be visiting Australia soon. Nokia has revealed that its Windows Phone 8 flagship will arrive in Europe priced at 649 euros ($836), while the Lumia 820 will arrive several hundred euros cheaper at 499 euros ($643). Both will arrive in Italy and Germany some time in November, although the company weren’t pointing to any specific launch date just yet. Further east, Russian Nokia fans can already put in their preorder, with the devices there arriving at some point in Q4.

Appearing soon after Zune’s end, we’ve been sent these images of what Microsoft’s likely to offer in Xbox Music. Matching those early rumors, it looks like some cloud-linked features will make an appearance in the form of synchronized playlists, while the service will offer a free half-month trial alongside paid subscriptions. Prices are currently set at £8.99 ($15) for a month, while £89.90 ($146) will offer a year’s unlimited access to “millions” of tracks, to stream and download across Xbox, Windows, and Windows Phone. The system’s UI seems to borrow its looks from Windows’ Metro tile-based style, with a very similar keyboard that appears to be navigable from your Xbox controller. Take a tour of the gallery below and expect to hear more specifics ahead of the big Windows 8 launch next month.

T-Mobile is whetting our appetites for HTC’s ridiculously named yet highly attractive Windows Phone 8X with a sign-up sheet on its website. The manufacturer confirmed that it’s aiming for a November launch for the (surprise, surprise) Windows Phone 8 handset, and we’ve also heard whispers that it’ll retail for $199 when it arrives.
