Felted Mini Star Wars AT-AT (All Terrain-Adorable Transport)

Is this not the cutest little AT-AT you’ve ever seen? Why, this little guy would never march forward to the Imperial March theme and lay waste to Rebel forces. He just wouldn’t have it in him. All of the other AT-ATs talk about trampling the rebel scum, but this guy just wants to have peace and smell some flowers. Maybe make friends with a Tauntaun or two.

He is an outcast. He’s just not like the rest. And that makes him sad. Now you see why he has his head down. This adorable AT-AT comes from Etsy artist famished and is about 5″ long and 6″ high.

He would look good sitting on your desk or shelf. I mean, he’s gonna look sad no matter what I guess, but he is cute and will look good with your other collectibles and toys. You can grab him up for $85(USD). The seller has only made two in this style so when they are gone, that’s it.

All of the other AT-ATs (and General Veers) used to last and call him names. They wouldn’t let poor felty join in any AT-AT games.

Wool & Prince Button Downs: The Lazy Man’s Shirt

Too lazy to wash your shirt after every wear? Then Wool & Prince’s button downs should be perfect for you!

Its makers boast that the shirt can be worn for a hundred days straight without washing it in between. The secret of the shirt lies in the material. It’s made from a unique cotton-soft wool fabric that took Wool & Prince six months to develop, and it looks like their efforts have paid off.

Wool and Prince Shirt

In fact, for care instructions, Wool & Prince says to “let the wool do the work” and only dry clean or gently wash the shirt “when absolutely necessary.”

The 100-day figure was the result of an experiment that the company had 15 wear testers do. Each of them wore the shirt for a hundred days while going about their usual business, from dancing at clubs to backpacking in the Andes. Wool & Prince described them as being “impressed” with the no-odor properties.

Apparently, they’re not the only ones impressed with the shirt. Wool & Prince’s campaign on Kickstarter has raised over $312,000 so far and they’re already sold out of their first batch of no-smell wool shirts.

But no worries – if you’re interested, you can still get on the waitlist. Or you could just use the washing machine.

This Shirt Can Be Worn For 100 Days Without Washing, Which Sounds Incredibly Sketchy But Also Awesome

Who even knows. The creators of Wool&Prince are claiming that you can wear their wool button-down shirts for days on end without them wrinkling, smelling or showing any dirt. Frankly, that sounds ridiculous, but maybe? More »

Libratone intros Zipp portable AirPlay speaker with DirectPlay, expectedly wrapped in wool (update)

Libratone Zipp

If you’ve been following the surge of AirPlay speakers that started hitting the market in 2011, you’ve likely feasted your eyes on the spendy wool-clad systems by Libratone. While its larger Live and Lounge units have primarily been purposed for households, its new Zipp speaker is the being touted as the “first and only” portable AirPlay speaker. Make no mistake, unlike B&O Play’s portable AirPlay-equipped Beolit 12 ($800), the Zipp’s loaded with Libratone’s proprietary PlayDirect protocol, meaning it doesn’t require a separate wireless network / router for iDevices to connect to it over the air. The Zipp moniker is a play on the swappable wool grill which cozies around its vertically-standing tubular enclosures. Weighing four pounds and measuring in at 10.2 inches high by 4.8 inches in diameter, this “portable” unit is a good bit larger than the Blutooth-equipped Jawbone Big Jambox placed sideways, but it’ll certainly fit in a backpack — hey, it does have a leather carrying strap. Thankfully, that weight is partially due to its internal rechargeable battery, which should last up to eight hours.

As far as the speakers go, you’ll find a duo of 1-inch ribbon tweeters facing the sides for the left and right channels, along with a 4-inch up-firing woofer. The rig also features Libratone’s signature FullRoom design, which forces a 360-degree dispersion of the sound by way of deflectors in front of the tweeters. Beyond that, it’ll naturally work with Libratone’s existing iPhone app, allowing you to change the DSP on the fly for optimal output regardless of its placement in a room. The Zipp will hit Apple Stores later this October wrapped with a single red or grey zippered grill for $399, while other retailers will carry the $449 Classic Color and Funky Color editions, which each come with a trio of those wool grills (black, blue and red for the Classic, and black, pink and yellow for the Funky). Past that, a single grill by itself will cost you a relatively expensive $49 directly from Libratone. In the meantime, join us past the break for more details about the unit itself and PlayDirect, our initial impressions and a hands-on video overview.

Needle-Felted Shiranui: Okami Overload

Despite its age and relatively primitive graphics, Okami is still one of the most beautiful, creative and artful games ever created. If you recall, the games protagonist is a wolf named Amaterasu. One of the other wolves in the game was Shiranui, who tragically dies in battle with the beastly Orochi. Artist Piquipauparro pays tribute to this beautiful and noble creature with what could be the most amazing bit of needle-felting I’ve ever laid eyes on.

This 12″ long, 8″ tall version of the white wolf was handmade from wool and a little bit of wire for structure. It’s incredibly detailed, and includes all of those whispy red streaks and a “fire cloud” mane to make it even more dynamic.

If You Haven’t Read Wool, Watch This Trailer and Begin Obsessing [Video]

If you haven’t read Wool, I’m jealous of you—I wish I could read it again for the first time. Hugh Howley’s series of self-published scifi novelas is one of the best works of fiction I’ve ever read. More »
