There are two ways to deliver bad news: an overlong, meandering apology or the ‘pull no punches’ route. Microsoft, in explaining away future Skype support for Windows Phone 7, went with option number one. You see, it’s not you, it’s Windows Phone 8. And besides, according to Microsoft, there aren’t even really that many of you left on WP7 to merit continued updates. Please understand, this is about the future; it’s about integrating Skype into every (viable) Microsoft platform and product and you, forlorn WP7 user, aren’t part of that picture. Chin up, though, you can still download the app from the Windows Phone Store. Now don’t say Microsoft never gave you anything. Buh bye.

Whether you’re a fan of CBS’s Elementary spin on Sherlock Holmes or not, it sure gave a nice amount screen-time to cellphones in its pilot. While there was prominent use of iPhones in the episode, we’re highlighting a seemingly forced Nokia Lumia 800 cameo — you’d think it would at least be the 900 being an American series. The camera takes a tight shot of Sherlock swiping through photos on a murder victim’s black Lumia twice, highlighting the Nokia logo and Windows Phone 7.5 gallery interface. Judging by WP Marketplace reviews from folks like yourself, the platform’s Adobe Reader application is in much need of a few tweaks — and, well, that’s exactly what the Flash maker’s done. As it did with its Android and iOS counterparts a few months back, Adobe’s now bringing an updated version (10.1, to be exact) of its mobile Reader app to the Windows Phone 7.5 (or later) crowd. Among the most notable features you’ll find are a revamped file browser, new search functionalities that make it easier to find words and phrases within documents, plus the ability to navigate PDF documents using the Page Scrubber or bookmarks you have set. Unfortunately, Adobe Reader 10.1 isn’t up for download just yet, but it won’t be too long before it eventually starts showing up on Redmond’s app market.

Update: As our dear commenters have pointed out (and the Marketplace has since confirmed), the Adobe Reader update is now available for everyone’s downloading pleasure. Enjoy.
