Guy Walks on Ceiling with Homemade Magneto Boots, Laughs Maniacally

Check out this video of Colin Furze (the maniac who gave us those cool Wolverine claws) walking on the ceiling using his newly-completed, homemade Magneto boots. I question his sanity after seeing him laughing hysterically over the feat. Magneto never got that excited. This is proof that you respect a super power more if you have to earn it, rather than being born with it.

He did have the good sense to try it on a low ceiling though. That’s several small steps on the ceiling for man, one giant leap for nerdkind who have spare electromagnets at home.

Here’s some behind-the-scenes videos of how Colin made the boots and how he learned to walk in them:

Not to be mean or anything, but it would have been funny if he got stuck and had to hang there until help arrived.

X-Mans Art Show: Children of the Coloring Book

10 years ago, pop artist Brandon Bird found an X-Men coloring & activity book filled with awful sketches at a dollar store. Brandon eventually decided to turn it into a collaborative work with his fellow artist friends. But instead of simply coloring its pages, they each picked a sketch in the book and made original art based on it.

Brandon presented the artworks under the appropriate name X-Mans earlier this month at the Nucleus gallery in L.A. Here are some of the pieces:

As you can see, most of the pieces are lighthearted – Nate Carle’s Fourclops looks like it actually came from the sketchbook – but a couple of them made the best out of the source material, such as Amy Dixon’s Grey’s Anatomy and Erin Pearce’s Magneto Hates Birthdays.  Have your browser wear Cerebro and head to Brandon’s website to see all of X-Mans. Brandon is also selling prints of some of the pieces on his online shop.

How the movie Frozen should have ended (Spoiler: Elsa joins the X-Men)

All anyone ever wanted to talk about for the past few months has been Frozen. It’s so fun! The songs are so good! We want to lip sync them! Disney Animation is better than Pixar now! And so on and so on. Was it really that good, guys? HISHE thinks it could have better. Or at least, different with this alternate ending where Anna and Elsa’s parents just don’t understand what the heck to do (and go to someone who knows very well how to help mutants).

LEGO X-Men X-Mansion Concept: A Home for Gifted Minifigs

Minifigs are often hated and feared by humans because they are different. Also because it hurts when you step on them. True believer Glen Bricker wants to build a haven for these extraordinary toys with his proposal for an official LEGO X-Men X-Mansion, aka Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.

Glen’s proposal is for a four level mansion that folds out to reveal its rooms, which includes the famous Danger Room, Cerebro, Professor Xavier’s office, Beast’s laboratory and Storm’s attic garden.

Glen included 45 minifigs in his mockups to make the proposal more appealing, but he knows that the number of minifigs – if any – that will be included in the playset will be far fewer. He knows that LEGO and Marvel will have the final say, but if he had his way he’d include Prof. X, Beast, Shadowcat, Gambit and Mystique and maybe Storm and Cyclops as well. What did Wolverine ever do to you bub?

Team up with the Uncanny Browser and head to LEGO Cuusoo to vote for the proposal. Glen also suggests reaching out to Marvel – either through Facebook, Twitter or sending them an email at officex@marvel.com – to let them know about the proposal.

X-23 Cosplay Girl: The Perfect Killing Machine

Laura Kinney aka X-23 was cloned from a damaged copy of Wolverine’s genes, and was created to be an assassin in the X-Men universe. With her sharp Adamantium claws, I certainly wouldn’t want to mess with her. And in real life, she looks even more deadly.

This awesome costume was put together and modeled by KOCosplay for Katsucon 19 and NYCC earlier this year, and all I can say is that I wouldn’t want to run into her in a dark alley. Especially with those spikes on her boots – and her ability to heal from any wounds in seconds.

KO worked with Ravenswood Leather to create the leather bits of her costume, and built the rest herself, including those deadly claws, and that X-Men belt buckle.

Ex-Men: Professor-X Fires Nightcrawler

Comedian Pete Holmes is at it again with another Ex-Men video. In the series, he dresses like Professor-X and fires some underperforming X-Men mutant. The last time I mentioned one of these videos it was the incredibly lame Jubilee that was getting the axe.

ex men nightcrawler 620x365magnify

The new video sees Nightcrawler getting shown the door. Professor X brings up something I’ve never really thought about, what exactly does the smoke Nightcrawler leaves behind when he teleports smell like? Apparently, the answer is something stinky. At one point, Professor X says it smells like the Predators dreadlocks. I laughed hard.

As with all the other Ex-Men videos, it’s mostly a string of insults. In fact, at one point Nightcrawler asks Professor X if his home for mutants was just a ploy so he could lure mutants in and insult them. Professor X replies: “a little bit.”

Professor X Fires Jubilee

Let’s be honest, some of the superheroes created in the Marvel universe aren’t all that super. Sure, we have some really cool superheroes such as Wolverine, but we also have some really lame superheroes like Jubilee. If you’re unfamiliar with Jubilee, you aren’t missing much. She shoots fireworks out of her fingers.

professor x jubilee 620x378magnify

Comedian Pete Holmes has created a series of skits called “Ex-Men” in which Professor X fires some of the less thrilling X-Men. His latest video is hilarious with the Prof asking Jubilee at one point if she could fire herself because it would be the first thing she’s ever done for the X-Men. He also says at one point that he might give her a call someday if Magneto is ever beating up hippies at Burning Man.

Pokémon & Heroines T-shirts: PokéPinups

Many Pokémon have an affinity to natural elements, a trope that they share with other superheroes. Singapore-based shirt designer Barefists figured it would be nice to mashup the critters to famous heroines that share their elemental strengths in what he’s calling PokePinups.

Barefists currently has four PokePinups designs: Poison Ivy riding a Venusaur, Danaerys with three Charmanders, the Waterbender Katara on a Blastoise and the X-man Storm with Pikachu.

pokepinup t shirt xmashed gear 5 300x250

You can get the t-shirts from Barefists’ shop Xmashed Gear for about $22 (USD) each, but if you can get them for just $14 each, $30 for two or $55 for all four plus four A3 prints on his Indiegogo fundraiser. He’s planning to make more PokePinups in the future, but I hope that doesn’t depend on the success of his fundraiser because he’s still quite a ways from hitting his goal of $2,800.

With hundreds of Pokémon this series has a lot of potential. You can have Carrie and Mew, Chell and Abra, Sasha Blouse and Snorlax… man I need to play Pokémon X/Y. I’m way behind on Pokémon.
