Evleaks: Motorola X Phone Spotted For Real

Evleaks: Motorola X Phone Spotted For RealYesterday, we mentioned about how the Motorola XT1055 could very well be the fabled Motorola X Phone. Well, whatever the case was, it seems that this particular leak from the good people over at @evleaks could be the real deal, where images of it have been released. The Motorola X Phone, carrying its codename “Ghost” (how fitting, considering the relative rarity of spotting it in the wild) to great effect. The leaked images do not reveal too much about the real deal, since it was covered in a black non-disclosure case which was hiding the smartphone underneath.

It is also said that that the rear panel of the Motorola X Phone is made out of polycarbonate, which would ditch the metal theme that many smartphone manufacturers have taken upon themselves to deliver to the masses, and would also take a break from Motorola’s tradition of using Kevlar. It seems that the headphone jack on the Motorola X Phone will remain centered on the top edge of the device, while both power and volume buttons remain on the right edge of the device, similar to the Nexus 7. Word on the street has it that the X Phone will be released for Verizon and AT&T, although it will be supported by all major carriers in the US.

Motorola XT1055 Could Be The Elusive X Phone

Motorola XT1055 Could Be The Elusive X PhoneThe Motorola X phone does seem to be too far away to think about right now, where there have been rumors circulating concerning the X phone and its seemingly insane hardware specifications. In fact, it was rumored sometime last week that a Google X phone was spotted with Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie running on it, and here we are with the possibility that the Motorola XT1055 which you have heard so much about could very well be the long awaited Motorola X phone.

An Antutu benchmark depicted a device that is known as the Motorola XT1055, where it is said to come with guns blazing thanks to a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that has been clocked at a whopping 1.7GHz, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice, and of course, a rear speaker. Antutu did not make too much out of the hardware specifications, so chances are this might not be the elusive X phone, or they could be playing it low and cool for the moment. Who knows?

Google X Phone With Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie Spotted (Rumor)

Google X Phone With Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie Spotted (Rumor)There was a rumor earlier on concerning the Motorola X Phone arriving in 20 different colors, which would be a range that would even put Nintendo and their collection of 3DS XL models to shame, and it would be a throwback to the heydays of Nokia when they rolled out as many colors as there were models. Well, it seems that a new device has been spotted on an AnTuTu benchmark, where it described the device simply as the “Google X”, and not a Motorola X Phone or the X Phone, so it remains to be seen whether this device in question is the same X Phone from Motorola or not.

To make matters all the more interesting, this particular benchmark showed that said handset would operate on Android 5.0.1 as the operating system of choice. As we all know, Android 5.0’s nickname would follow in the dessert naming convention, that is Key Lime Pie, but unfortunately, the most recent word concerning Key Lime Pie was it will be delayed at Google I/O. Bummer!

Motorola X Phone To Arrive In 20 Different Colors [Rumor]

Motorola X Phone To Arrive In 20 Different Colors [Rumor]We’ve been hearing a ton of rumors about the alleged Motorola X Phone, which according to the rumors, is not a single device, but rather a series of devices much like how Samsung uses the Galaxy brand for its lineup of phones and tablets. In any case it has been suggested that the Motorola X Phone could differentiate itself from the competition by allowing customization, although we’re not sure to what extent this customization would be.

The folks at Phone Arena claim to have received a tip from their source at Motorola and according to the tip, the customization would be less about choosing how much RAM your phone has, but rather the look of the phone, which supposedly will come available in over 20 different colors. We’re pretty sure colors don’t make or break a phone, but at the same time it does help appeal to different types of customers who think that black/white is a bit too boring. We’re not sure when the X Phone will debut, but if the previous report is to be believed, the phone could be passing on Google I/O and launch in August instead.

Motorola X Release Reportedly Pushed Back Till August

Motorola X Release Reportedly Pushed Back Till August

Many believe that Motorola X is not one smartphone, it is actually a whole line of smartphones which can be customized. Customers will supposedly be able to customize internal hardware such as RAM, color and storage before the smartphone is shipped to them. The entire Motorola X line is reportedly being made to compete with Samsung’s insanely popular Galaxy line. Be it one or more smartphones, it is now being reported that the release of Motorola X has been pushed back to August, perhaps even further than that.

Despite being hinted at by Guy Kawasaki, no one was really sure when Motorola X was coming out. As of now it is not even known whether this is an entire smartphone line or just one device. Rumors are there, as always. The specifications of an internal prototype include a 4.7 inch 1080p display with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and a very thin bezel. A great amount of internal storage stage is expected so as to compensate for the lack of microSD slot. Previously Motorola X was rumored to be released in either June or July, according to latest rumors that might not happen till after August.

Motorola X Phone Rumored For June/July Release

Motorola X Phone Rumored For June/July ReleaseWe’ve been hearing rumors about the Motorola X Phone, with some earlier reports claiming it to be a single device, and with later reports suggesting that it is actually a series of Android devices that may very well be customizable in terms of hardware. While Google/Motorola has yet to confirm the speculation, a new rumor has emerged (via Phone Arena) suggesting that the X Phone, or at least one device from the series, could be seeing a release pegged for the end of June or early July. If this is the case, it would certainly be in line with speculation from before that suggested that the X Phone could be unveiled at Google I/O that is taking place in May.

Not much is known about the alleged X Phone now, but we expect that it should be able to compete with the 2013 flagship phones from other Android OEMs, such as Full HD displays and quad-core processors. We’ll take this with a grain of salt for now, but with Google I/O coming up in a little over a month, hopefully more details will spill before then.

Customizable Motorola X Phone Possibly Hinted In Google+ Post By Guy Kawasaki

Customizable Motorola X Phone Possibly Hinted In Google+ Post By Guy KawasakiAbout a week ago we reported on a rumor that the Motorola X Phone could actually be referring to a series of devices, as opposed to a single one. However the more interesting part of that rumor was that the X Phone could be the first customizable Android device, meaning that users will be able to customize certain aspects of its hardware and have it shipped to them. We’re not sure what this means yet or how true that is, but former Apple evangelist, Guy Kawasaki, has posted on his Google+ a rather interesting question, “Wouldn’t it be great if you could personalize your phone like this?” with a link taking users to a YouTube video of car maker Porsche talking about the customization of cars.

While it could very well be an innocuous question, the fact the Kawasaki now works for Motorola has turned this simple question into more of a hint, even a tease. Kawasaki works with Motorola as an advisor on product design, UI and social media, so we wouldn’t be surprised if he had access or input regarding the rumored device. While Google has yet to make a formal announcement, many are expecting this rumored X Phone(s) to make an appearance at Google I/O so we’ll definitely be watching for that during the event in May.

New Google/Motorola X Phone Rumors Point To Multiple Models And Aggressive Price Tags

moto-leak-xphone

Now that Sony, LG, HTC, and Samsung have all pulled back the curtains on their flagship Android smartphones, the rumor mill can churn with renewed focus on yet another nebulous device — Motorola’s secretive X Phone.

Or rather, X Phones. According to Android And Me’s Taylor Wimberly, X Phone isn’t going to be a product name so much as it is a banner that multiple phones will fly under, and his sources assert that we’ve already seen the first of those devices in wild.

(I think it goes without saying that you should take all this information with a hefty grain of salt.)

The supposed culprit was captured on film earlier this week by the noted team at Tinhte, the Vietnamese site that thrives on getting their hands on unreleased gadgets well before the rest of us do. It was a fairly unassuming device — it bears a mild resemblance to the Galaxy Nexus when viewed dead-on, and sports a cleaner, rounded design that doesn’t quite jibe with many of Motorola’s recent angular design efforts.

What’s more, its modest spec sheet prompted many (myself included) to dismiss its odds of being the fabled X Phone. To wit: it sports one of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro systems-on-a-chip, 2GB of RAM, a 4.65-inch display, and a 2,200 mAh battery. In fairness, that’s not a shabby device at all. That’s essentially what the Nexus 4 is working with, but it just didn’t seem flashy enough to be what Motorola and Google have been working on all this time.

But if this new report holds true, that lack of next-gen horsepower could be because Google intends to sell this particular X Phone dirt cheap sans contract — $199 or so.

Curiously, the original video of the device was yanked from YouTube, and the original post on Tinhte seems to have disappeared as well. That’s far from a confirmation that Tinhte has ruffled some major feathers, but it’s something to consider.

Now to call this whole thing a little kooky would be putting it very mildly, but such an approach wouldn’t exactly come out of left field. One could look at the Nexus 4′s launch as a grand experiment of sorts, meant to see if the consuming public would be open to purchasing unsubsidized hardware directly from the people making it. The answer, clearly, is yes. The Nexus 4 isn’t exactly a mass-market success but demand for the device and its reasonably low price tag led to some notable woes for people trying to purchase the thing early on.

Moreover, the more limited launch of a high-end device like the Nexus 4 could help Google gauge their ability to fulfill device demand in markets across the globe. Now that Google has more or less figured out what needs to happen to keep a global device rollout from going immediately south, it’s arguably better prepared to push out a solid phone at a crazy low price point. Only time will tell whether or not Google and Motorola truly plan to inundate the world with a horde of cheap X Phones, but with I/O on the horizon I imagine it won’t be long before the next chapter of the X Phone saga begins to unfold.
