At last, a toy that lets a TIE Fighter chase an X-Wing, just like during the big Death Star battle scene in A New Hope! A Trench run that is never-ending, thanks to its figure-eight slot car track. The Star Wars Battling Fighters Set is a slot car set where the “cars” are space ships that we all know and love.

One player pilots Luke Skywalker’s “Red Five” X-Wing, while Vader’s TIE fighter gives chase. Apparently this set takes some skill to play with because the ships are slightly wider than the track. Therefore it should be challenging for either player.

The ships have LEDs that light up when racing too. And like any good kids toy, the 12-foot figure-eight track has glow-in the-dark striping for nighttime play. It will cost you $99.95 over at Hammacher Schlemmer. Completely worth it as far as I’m concerned.

Hey look. It’s a pink X-Wing in the forest? What gives? Did Ewoks get a hold of a truckload full of Pepto Bismol and assault this fighter with it? That sounds like those mischievous bastards. They love a good joke/vandalizing stuff. Did Endor have a pride parade? Nope.

This “natural X-wing” was made by Guillaume Renou for an exhibition in France that celebrates nature. Bizarre right?

If teenage girls fought for the rebellion, this is what their ships would look like – along with a fuzzy Hello Kitty plush hanging in the cockpit of course. And this guy would be their leader:

Kids can be rebellious. I say give a rebel kid a rebel bed. A rebel X-wing Fighter bed like this one. Well, the bed actually sits beneath the body of the ship, allowing the kid to climb up into the cockpit. If I had had this as a kid, I would never have left my bedroom.

The detail is pretty nice on this X-Wing bed too, with its Astromech droid, X-foils that open and close, and a cockpit where you can sit and watch DVDs on the screen in the nose of the ship.

The owner of this bed sure is one lucky kid. I hope he grows up to destroy a Death Star and earn some fame and glory.

Some of you may have thought that the (non) news about the U.S. government wisely turning down a petition to use its resources to build a Death Star had reached its conclusion with the Death Star fundraiser. Apparently this space cow has not been Force Milked dry just yet, because now someone’s asking for money to build a fleet of X-Wing fighters.

The representatives of the Rebel Alliance analyzed their enemy’s plans and have set up several effective countermeasures. For instance, they are merely asking for $11,000,000, way less than the $31.4M target fund for the Death Star. And whereas the Sith supporters only had a drawing of a circle – albeit, a well drawn one –  as their initial design, the Rebel Alliance used the power of the Force Google and posted this on their project page:

If that’s not enough to persuade you to donate to the light side, the Rebels have also indicated a desire to build a heavily modified YT-1300 Freighter:

The Rebels are also offering lightsaber construction classes to people who pledge $5,000 and a Jedi training camp to rich padawans who can pledge at least $10,000. I say we start a Kickstarter to help start an organization that prevents people from using Kickstarter for their jokes. Then let’s start another one that calls that other Kickstarter a buzzkill. Plot twist: we’ll only ask for $500 for each fundraiser, then we’ll split the cash and vanish. Jokes on you, backers!

Alright kid, let’s blow this thing and go home… Check out this awesome X-Wing Fighter coffee table made from wood and glass. It looks stunning and it took Sean Regan and Aubrey Cohen 6 months to make it, carving it from a few hunks of wood.

I love how dimensional it is, because the top half and bottom half hold the glass between them. That makes it look pretty sweet and also keeps it sturdy. You can try to make one yourself if you want, but I doubt it will look half as good.

If you were to pay for it, at a cost of about $14 an hour, this would cost in the neighborhood of $60,500. You could probably buy a real X-Wing Fighter for that – at least a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
