Sony reveals 35inch Xperia E single or dualSIM Android phone, coming early next year

Sony has just announced the new Xperia E smartphone sporting a 3.5-inch HVGA 320 x 480 display and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (though the specs indicate ICS), available with single or “Xperia Edual” mode SIMs. It’s touting the new handset as a way to “stay on top of your data and battery usage,” sporting special software that disables WiFi and data traffic when the screen has been asleep for more than a few minutes. With the dual-SIM option, you’ll also be able to switch between carriers with a single touch “to stay on the most cost effective plan.” It’ll come with HD Voice and Walkman xLOUD technology for optimal sound quality, according to Sony, and other specs include a 1GHz processor, wireless DNLA connectivity, a 1500 mAh battery and black, white or pink color options. The Xperia E will launch in Q1 2013, according to the PR, which you can find along with a video right after the break.

Sony Xperia E specs revealed in AnTuTu benchmark

It looks like 2013 could be an interesting year for Sony as a certain Xperia E handset was recently revealed via AnTuTu benchmarks, giving us a glimpse at what we might be able to expect if and when Sony makes it official. The device features the model number C1505 and appears to be powered by a 1GHz processor, which unfortunately does not seem like much compared to other high-end phones, suggesting that this particular device could be an entry or mid-ranged offering. On the flipside the benchmarks have also revealed that the Xperia E will be running on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean which given the many positive feedback that users have provided on the smoothness of the Jelly Bean update, we can only take this to mean a good thing. In any case this is pretty much what we have to go on for now, but we will be back when more information has been made available, so check back with us at a later date for the details!
