Sony Xperia ZR Gets Mugen Power Battery Pack

Sony Xperia ZR Gets Mugen Power Battery PackEarlier this afternoon, we did mention that the Sony Xperia ZR would be on the receiving end of the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update, and here we are with additional news on the smartphone that might carve an even wider smile on your face to take with you into the weekend. After all, the Sony Xperia ZR holds the distinction of being one of the few premium handsets from the Xperia family that will come with a removable battery – which is a not too common a feature these days in high-end models. Just in case the 2,300mAh capacity battery is not enough for you, then Mugen Power might have the right tonic on your behalf.

Mugen Power is well known for being extended battery specialists, and with that, they have put their expertise in the area to good use by introducing a couple of batteries that might help you out in your day to day use of the Xperia ZR. The first of the two is a 2,500mAh extended battery (HLI-BA950SL) which will fit in nicely into the Xperia ZR housing, where it will cost you $44.50 with free worldwide delivery, while the second is a beefier 4,600mAh battery (HLI-C5503XL) that doubles up your battery capacity, costing $89.50 along the way. This would require you to have its own back cover that comes inblack, white, mint and pink shades. Shipping of both batteries will happen this September 6th.

Sony Xperia ZR Android 4.2.2 Update Reportedly Rolling Out

A number of Sony smartphones that were recently released came with Android 4.1 pre-installed. Users have been waiting for the Android 4.2.2 update to drop for their respective smartphones. Some of the other Xperia smartphones have already received this update, now Xperia Blog reports that Sony Xperia ZR Android 4.2.2 update is being rolled out. It seems to have gone live initially in Norway, with more countries and regions expected to follow suit soon.

The build number appears to be 10.3.1.A.0.244 and as mentioned before, it bumps up the OS version to 4.2.2. Sony recently confirmed the smartphones that would receive the new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, Xperia ZR is one of them. It remains to be seen when the latest Android update is rolled out for Sony Xperia devices. For now, users can stick with Android 4.2.2 and wait for version 4.3 to drop, regardless of the fact that it doesn’t exactly bring any substantial changes. Sony is releasing this particular update in stages, so it might take more than a couple of days for Android 4.2.2 update to become available for your Xperia ZR, depending primarily upon your country and region.

NTT Docomo - Sony XPERIA A SO-04E - Featured at the 2013 "Summer Collection" new product press conference

“XPERIA A SO-04E” is a smartphone designed with round edges to fit in your palm well with an approx. 4.6 inch (720×1280 dot) LCD. It’s Docomo’s version of XPERIA’s global model “Sony XPERIA ZR”.

If you say XPERIA, you might remember its highly-functional camera. Sony’s CMOS image sensor “Exmor RS for mobile” is featured with “XPERIA A SO-04E” and that makes it strong against backlight. This is functionality that we’ve only seen with XPERIA.

It is waterproof and dustproof, and it’s compatible with NFC, infrared data communication, Bluetooth, and wallet phone function.

Sony Xperia ZR Rumor Making Its Rounds

Sony Xperia ZR Rumor Making Its RoundsThere is a new rumor going around of an unannounced smartphone that has been called the Sony Xperia ZR, and just what kind of hardware specifications will it pack? Apparently, whispers on the street concerning the Sony Xperia ZR would be a 720p display, a quad-core processor and a 13-megapixel camera. A 720p display would mean it has no Full HD display, and that might place it in the mid-range scheme of things, instead of occupying the high end range.

Other than that, we could also be looking at a quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB RAM, an IP58 rating for water resistance (not more than 1.5 meters, too), in addition to being dust-proof as well. It is said that the 720p display will measure 4.6″ in size across diagonally, with 8GB of internal memory. Powering the Sony Xperia ZR would be a 2,300mAh capacity, with speculated measurements of 10mm thin, tipping the scales at 140 grams. We look forward with bated breath to an official announcement.
