New Lenovo Yoga Devices Possibly On Their Way

New Lenovo Yoga Devices Possibly On Their WayWe did read about how Lenovo has introduced a couple of new smartphones to the masses recently, and here we are with the very real possibility of some more notebook/tablet hybrids, as they happen to fall under the Yoga range. Right now, we do know that Lenovo has put on the market 11.6” and 13.3” models that come in a varying account of processor, memory, and storage configurations. Recently revealed documents over at the FCC do point to additional models that are well on their way.

In the FCC listing that hails from the wireless chip manufacturer Broadcom, it does seem as though they are on the lookout for certification for a new Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card. And it does seem as though Broadcom has decided to test out that particular card with a bunch of devices from Lenovo’s Yoga range. The label drawings happen to be those for Intel Pentium, Core i3, and Core i5 processors, marking the very first time that a possible Yoga tablet to run on a Pentium processor inside. Does this mean that we could very well be looking at a budget model down the road? Some of the label drawings point to a Lenovo Yoga 2 11, which could follow in the footsteps of the recently introduced Yoga 2 Pro that has a 13.3’ display.

Switched On: The Yoga Tablet does kickstands with a twist

Each week Ross Rubin contributes Switched On, a column about consumer technology.

If one takes a narrow view of the tablet market, the largest PC makers have fared especially poorly as a group. At the launch of the iPad, HP, Dell, Acer and Lenovo had little experience with the Android ecosystem, which itself was not optimized for tablets. And Windows, their go-to operating system, was still not available in a version that would show off bold, finger-friendly tiles and yield long battery life in a slim form factor. Even now as these companies have experimented with all kinds of hinges and accessories on Windows, their Android efforts can be hard to differentiate as with HP’s Slate 7 and Dell’s recent 7- and 8-inch slates.

Into this spiritless landscape, Lenovo has dropped the Yoga Tablet, available in 8- and 10-inch sizes. Unlike its namesake Windows laptop, which reveals no obvious signs of its differentiation at first glance, the Yoga Tablet has a silver, cylindrical side that is reminiscent of extended laptop batteries. Indeed, it contains the battery here as well as making for a grip that is at first unfamiliar, but which allows the rest of the tablet to be very thin.

The Laptops Worth Buying This Holiday Season

If you’re buying a new laptop this holiday season, you should probably get a MacBook Air. Its build quality is best-in-breed, its 12-15 hour battery life (on the 13" model) absolutely embarrasses the competition, and its operating system is extremely reliable and polished. Plus, despite what you may have heard about Apple products, it’s actually quite affordable compared to the competition.

An Android Tablet with a Kickstand? Sure, Why Not

An Android Tablet with a Kickstand? Sure, Why Not

There are like a bajillion different Android tablets out there. And there are virtually zero reasons to talk about most of them. The Nexus 7 is your reigning champ, the Kindle Fire HDX is your barely-recognizably-Android alternative, and that’s about it. But Lenovo’s at least giving it a shot with—get this—a kickstand.
