Yoshi Themed Nintendo 3DS XL Is Coming, Game Sold Separately

As everyone knows by now, Nintendo needs to sell anything they can since the Wii U has sold so terribly for them. So to get more sales in general, and to promote the release of Yoshi’s New Island, Nintendo is releasing a new, special edition Yoshi-branded Nintendo 3DS XL.

However, the special-edition portable doesn’t come with the game, even though the box is so heavily branded with Yoshi artwork. No, they want you to buy both the game and the 3DS separately.

Yoshi’s New Island releases the same day as the lime green 3DS XL. March 14. The special edition 3DS XL retails for $199(USD) price and there doesn’t seem to be an alternate option that comes bundled with the game. Smooth move, Nintendo.

Please buy the game and the console. Help a struggling gaming company who has made all of the wrong moves for years. Have a heart. Keep mild cartoon violence alive in video games. Otherwise they might have a telethon soon or one of those sad animal commercials with Sarah Mclachlan. Or maybe they’ll just smarten up and start selling their games on iOS and Android – when dinosaurs fly.

New Yoshis Island Game Announced For The Nintendo 3DS

While we happened to catch the mention of a Yoshi’s Island game for the Wii U a few months ago, it looks like Nintendo isn’t ready to discuss that particular title, instead shining the spotlight on a new Yoshi’s Island game for the Nintendo 3DS instead.

The upcoming Yoshi’s Island for the 3DS features the same iconic art style its predecessors and will still have you playing as Yoshi who is in charge of keeping Baby Mario safe through the adventure. As you would expect from a Yoshi’s Island game, you’ll be able to throw many, many eggs, perform ground stomps, floating jumps and a number of other iconic moves. (more…)

Mario on Yoshi: Yoshi’s Theme is Now Playing in Your Head

Who can forget Mario’s lovable and dependable green sidekick? Sorry Luigi, we’re still not talking about you. I’m talking about Yoshi, the omnivorous, egg-laying, ground stomping, tongue swinging dinosaur. Jacob Ashley immortalizes a familiar sight in many a gamer’s mind with this wood and acrylic piece.

Ashley made the pixel art sculpture out of pine, acrylic and epoxy. He then hand painted it to make the two heroes look like they burst out of a TV in 1990.

You can buy the sculpture at Yetee Gallery for $400 (USD), which is incidentally is also how much an original copy of Super Mario World costs today.
