Sony Yuga SO-02E Gets The FCC Treatment

Each smartphone range will need to have a flagship in order to best represent the company’s particular expertise in various departments that make up a smartphone – both software and hardware. Well, Sony Mobile does seem to be working on more than one 2013 flagship models, and the Yuga is one of them, where it will arrive in Japan on NTT DoCoMo with the model number SO-02E. So far, we have only caught whiff of the Yuga’s international model number (C660X), but this is the Japanese version that we are talking about that has already passed the FCC’s test with flying colors, while we are treated to a schematic of the back of the handset.

Needless to say, what was shown is not different from the leaked photos that we’ve seen so far. From what the documents revealed, the Yuga SO-02E will come with a 2,330mAh battery, which should be enough to keep the rumored 5-inch Full HD display going for the whole day. Apart from that, we also know that the Yuga SO-02E will support network frequency bands that on GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900; UMTS/HSPA Bands 1/5/6/19 and LTE Bands 1/19/21.

More Sony Yuga And Odin Specifications

Earlier this month, we saw more images of the Sony Yuga leaked, where from there we also managed to glean some information concerning the Yuga, such as a unibody design alongside whispers of a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, a 12-megapixel camera, and a 5” 1080p Full HD display. Well, it seems that the Sony Yuga is not the only one in the 1080p Full HD display boat, as the Odin too, is said to sport a similar device that shares the same screen size as well.

There are new rumors going around that basically, the Sony Yuga and Sony Odin are the same devices – although the former would be headed for Japan with feature such as water resistance, while the Sony Odin is positioned to be the international version of the smartphone. As for the Yuga’s measurements, it is said to sport 138.6mm x 71mm x 8.1mm dimensions at 140 grams, while the odin is slightly smaller (albeit thicker) at 131.6mm x 69.7mm x 9.8mm, tipping the scales at 147 grams.

Alleged Sony C6603 Yuga photos leaked

Towards the end of October, photos of the Sony C6603 “Yuga” were spotted. Unfortunately those photos only gave us a partial glimpse of the device, but thanks to the folks at Android Schweiz, they have managed to get their hands on more photos of the Yuga, showing off the handset in all of its glory. Now based on what we can see, it looks like the current photos and the previous photos are similar which at the very least provides a degree of consistency. It also appears that with the Yuga, Sony will be taking a departure from their traditional design seen in previous Xperia devices. (more…)

Sony Yuga camera might be a 13-megapixel shooter

The latest camera sample leaks of the yet unreleased (obviously) Sony C6603 Yuga does point towards the very real possibility of this smartphone carry a 13-megapixel Exmor RS CMOS sensor alongside f/2.4 aperture. Not only that, it is said to run on Android firmware 10.1.A.0.270, which is deemed to represent Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. All of this information was gleaned from a leaked Picasa sample photo, now how about that? I guess it makes sense for a 13-megapixel sensor to be in line with other high end specifications such as a quad-core Krait processor, don’t you think so?

Of course, such specifications are definitely becoming of what Sony would call their future flagship Android-powered device. Apart from the Yuga, there is also the Odin which has been shortlisted, and we could very well see both unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, next February.
