Zelda Inspired Pixel Heart Jewelry Symbolizes Your Love Bar

Etsy artist Nastalgame sells plastic jewelry inspired by the hearts from The Legend of Zelda. There’s a necklace, a bracelet, a ring and two different types of earrings. The hearts can also be “broken”, in case you’re not feeling particularly romantic.

For example, the bracelet you see above has two sides:

The hearts on the necklace and the pair of earrings with short chains can literally be broken apart, but the chains will hold up both heart halves. The other pair of earrings on the other hand consists of two halves that match together. But my favorite piece is the ring. Not only does the heart snap in to two pieces, the ring itself can be separated, so you can give one of the halves to someone else. Awwwww.

Wii U To Get Zelda Remake

windwaker zelda Wii U To Get Zelda RemakeEvery generation of the Nintendo console, whether it is a handheld or a home-based model, deserves signature titles from the House of Nintendo. I am talking about having at least one Mario platformer title, and in recent times, a kart outing by Mario and gang, with a little bit of Zelda thrown into the side for good measure. Yes sir, the latest Nintendo console, the Wii U, is still short on the Zelda side – but not for long. Word has it that the Legend of Zelda will be arriving on the Wii U, where this High Definition adventure will make creative use of the Wii U’s gamepad,

In fact, Wii U owners will also be on the receiving end of “The Wind Waker” remake, where the original was last seen on the Gamecube, although you can be sure that this remake would have been optimized for the gamepad and the Wii U. We cannot wait to get more cel-shaded graphics interpreted by the Wii U, and the open ended seafaring gameplay would definitely roll back the years for many who are interested.

Nintendo Promises More Titles For Wii U Including New Zelda, Mario Games

wiiu

Nintendo has a lot to announce this morning, including an app for its Miiverse platform, as well as some fan-favorite game titles that will be available on the Wii U platform in the coming months. By the time E3 rolls around, in mid-June, the Wii U will support two new Zelda games, as well as new Super Mario and Mario Kart titles.

Nintendo announced the Wii U back in June, offering a new level of gameplay with multiple screens (one on the TV and one on the controller) and a brand new GamePad controller complete with NFC and a gyrometer/accelerometer.

The new console elevates Wii gameplay past silly family fun and takes it to a new level, one that gaming enthusiasts can appreciate. The console launched with titles like Mass Effect 3 and Batman Arkham City, and left classic games like Super Mario Bros. U to simmer and bubble in the minds of anticipating customers.

But today the company is ensuring that its die-hard Wii fans, the ones who grew up racing on Mario Kart or capturing coins in Super Mario Bros., have a reason to upgrade to the Wii U without losing all their favorite games.

It’s unclear what exactly these games will look like, but Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has opened up a bit about the forthcoming Zelda titles.

“Our mission in developing this new Zelda game for Wii U is quite plainly to rethink the conventions of Zelda. I’m referring to things like the expectation that the player is supposed to complete dungeons in a certain order, or that you’re supposed to play by yourself. The things that we’ve come to take for granted recently.”

“We want to set aside these ‘conventions’, get back to basics and create a newborn Zelda game so that the players today can best enjoy the real essence of the franchise.”

Along with a new 3D Mario title and Mario Kart, Nintendo will also be introducing the following titles to the platform:

  • Yarn Yoshi
  • Wii Fit U Communities (with new features like the creation of Miiverse communities)
  • Pikmin 3 Photos (which lets you use the GamePad as a camera)
  • Wii Party
  • RPG Mashup: a collaboration project that features Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei franchises
  • A new game from Monolith Soft, the creators of Xenoblade

Zelda Wedding Rings: A Link to Your Soulmate

If you’re thinking about getting married, and both you and your significant other are into classic video games, then I can’t think of anything better than these Zelda wedding bands as a symbol of your undying commitment to love, honor, and cherish one another (and occasionally dust off the old NES console together.)

zelda wedding rings

Even if your names aren’t Link and Zelda, you’ll still want to wear these rings. They’re actually quite elegant from the outside, and only those in the know will realize the meaning of the Triforce on them. One of them is inscribed with “It’s Dangerous” and the other with “To Go Alone.” Awwwwww. That’s so sweet, I think I just threw up a little bit in my mouth. But seriously, these rings are pretty swell.

These were custom made by Toronto jewelry artist Zsolt Székely. They don’t list the pricing for these exact rings on their website, but says that their rings range from $295 for sterling silver designs up to $5000 and beyond for precious metals and diamonds. That’s a whole lot of rupees if you ask me, but well worth the price for something you’ll both cherish for years to come.

Zelda 64: The Ocarina of Cake

It’s dangerous to eat dinner alone, here, take this Zelda N64 cake and have some dessert. It not only has Link and Zelda, but it also features an edible console with an equally edible cartridge and gamepad.

zelda cakeThis wonderfully-detailed cake was created by Tracey at the Black Cherry Cake Company. It is based on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I’m not even sure where I would start with a cake like this. Which part do you eat first? I’d probably start with Zelda, then eat Link, then some rupees. I would save the N64 and the cartridge for last.

Skrillex Quest, a game where Zelda meets dubstep

If the dubstep genre of music is your thing and the artist Skrillex is one of your favorite dubstep artists, then you might be interested in this game dubbed the Skrillex Quest, which seems to be some kind of mashup between Zelda and Sword & Sorcery. Basically the premise of the game is where a speck of dust gets into the game cartridge and wrecks havoc within the game itself, and in order to save the game, you will have to battle dust particles and the likes. Put together by Jason Oda, the game’s soundtrack makes use of Skrillex’s music, with the dubstep genre being rather appropriate considering the various stutters one encounters due to the dust invading the game. It’s surprisingly entertaining so if you don’t mind giving it a go, it is playable for free within your browser – just head on over to its website for more info!

The Legend of Digital Zelda: Watch Link fight his way across Apple products

Back in July, the folks at FinalCutKing made a stop-motion Mario video using 7,000 Post-it notes, and now they are back but this time instead of Post-it notes, they are using several Mac computers and basically it documents the journey of how Link needs to save Princess Zelda while he “fights” his way across the various Mac computers, iPads and iPhones to well…okay we won’t spoil it for you but if you’re a fan of Zelda or Mac computers or cool videos, spare a couple of minutes and check out the video above!

Video Game Cookies: From Pixels to Pastries

If there’s two things in life I love, it’s video games and cookies. I mean, what’s not to like? Apparently, the guys over at Parchment Cookies have the same mentality, and have baked up some epic video game-inspired cookies for us to admire (and eat if we could afford them.)

galaga cookies

These incredibly-detailed cookies are based on classic arcade and console games ranging from Galaga, to Duck Hunt, to Donkey Kong, and look great. The level of detail in the icing is spectacular, and really captures the original games in cookie form. I think my favorite set has to be the Burgertime cookies, since they’re food that depicts a video game, depicting other food – including walking hot dog and a ladder-climbing egg.

duck hunt cookies 175x175
donkey kong cookies 175x175

galaga cookies 175x175

A dozen of these handmade video game cookies will set you back $54(USD), which works out to be $4.50 per cookie. I know a lot of love and labor must go into each of these, so they’re worth it. I just don’t know if I could bring myself to eat them or if I’d just frame them and hang them on the wall. Ok, I’d eat them – all in one sitting.

Life Size LEGO Zelda Hylian Shield: It’s Dangerous to Go Alone! Take Bricks.

This incredible thing is made entirely out of LEGO pieces. This full-sized Hylian Shield from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has been lovingly recreated by brickbuilders Alyse & Remi otherwise known as Bolt of Blue.

If you have to see this amazing creation in person, you can see it at this years Brickcon in Seattle, WA this weekend. I’m not sure how LEGO pieces it took to create this thing, but it must have been a ton of work. And they clearly have way more talent than I have.
