Zelda-Themed Bedroom: It’s Dangerous to Grow Up Alone

What’s with all of these kids getting special geek bedrooms and beds shaped like vehicles? I had a boring room with a boring bed because I had boring parents. Yeah, I’m a little bitter. Anyway, this is a pretty awesome Zelda inspired bedroom. Lucky kid.

zelda room
This Zelda room is great, but it’s not the only special room this kid had. He had a Mario nursery, but when his parents felt that he outgrew it, they gave him this room. See, this kid had two cool rooms. My parents suck.

They have a second child on the way, so this room was made to accommodate two kids. You guys are great parents. Unlike some people. Check out more pictures here.

Zelda Triforce Necklace: Gold Pendant of Courage (and Power and Wisdom)

Add this simple but beautiful chain and pendant set to your Legend of Zelda jewelry collection. It’s made of hand-polished brass with 18k gold plating. Flashy, but it’s also an appropriate likeness for something that’s also known as the Golden Power.

There’s also a stainless steel version for humble heroes.

Zelda Breadstick Sword: It’s Dangerous to Go Alone, Eat This!

We here at Technabob often feature cakes in the shape of geeky stuff, but more savory baked goods rarely seem to get their fair shake. Here’s one of the few times that a loaf of bread rises to such heights of perfection.

zelda breadstick

Tumblr contributor spacekat267 is a Zelda fan, and decided to bake himself a loaf of bread in the shape of Link’s sword – complete with TriForce markings on the hilt. He goes on to say that it “’twas delicious and most powerful with a side of Lon Lon Ranch.” Very funny, spacekat. Very funny, indeed.

Apparently, the breadstick sword was so well received that he decided that the next time he has time to bake a loaf, he’s going to crank out a Hylian bread shield to go with.

New Zelda game for the Nintendo Wii U rumored to be in development, possible 2014 release

According to website Wii U Daily, it seems like Nintendo is working on creating the biggest Zelda game ever made for the Wii U console. To be honest this hardly seems like a surprise given that Zelda is one of the more popular titles from Nintendo, and with the Wii U expected to last Nintendo a good few years and to be able to compete with next-gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft, well they certainly need a huge game to capture the attention of the gaming market. Zelda medley at the Olympics did not result in gold

Mexican gymnast Elsa Garcia Rodriguez Blancas must be a video game fan, especially that of Zelda, or her coach is. After all, how many Olympians would actually choose to perform at the highest level while using a medley from a video game? This is exactly what Elsa Garcia Rodriguez Blancas did, performing her Olympic qualification routine to an arrangement of music from The Legend of Zelda. This particular arrangement was performed by violinist Lindsey Stirling, but unfortunately, it is not the kind of music that you use which will influence the judges’ final score, but rather, the routine as well as execution. Being able to pick a nerdy video game soundtrack does not count towards your final score, leading Blanca to rank 35th in the event. That is certainly very far from bringing home a gold medal for Mexico. Just some food for thought – what kind of video game music do you think would make for an awesome Olympics tune for use on the gymnastic front, or even for synchronized swimming?

Legend of Zelda prototype cartridge goes to auction: $150,000 proves your loyalty to Hyrule (video)

Legend of Zelda prototype cartridge

And you thought that Nintendo World Championships gold cartridge would make a nice start to the retirement fund. An eBay auction from tjcurtin1 is offering a prototype NES cartridge for the US release of The Legend of Zelda at a Buy It Now price of $150,000, or roughly ten times more than the typical final bid that Price Charting quotes for a typical NWC cart. While it looks like an unassuming yellow chunk of plastic, it’s actually a Nintendo of America copy from February 23, 1987 — half a year before the definitive action adventure reached the US market. The game still plays and can even save its game on the still functional, industry-first battery backup. Just remember that it’s not necessarily going to reveal any design secrets from Shigeru Miyamoto or Takashi Tezuka: the seller warns that he can’t see any practical differences between the early copy and the (also included) shipping version. Anyone well-heeled enough to buy the prototype is therefore going solely for the collector’s value. But for those determined to be the coolest kid on any block about 25 years late, there’s only one way to go.
