ASUS Zenbook UX303LN To Launch Later This Year

ASUS Zenbook UX303LN To Launch Later This YearWord has it that ASUS has plans to roll out their Zenbook UX303LN later this year, where this high end Ultrabook will boast of an Intel Haswell processor, NVIDIA graphics, in addition to a stunning 13” display that sports a whopping 3,200 x 1,800 pixels. Yes, you read that right – the amount of pixels on the screen itself is eye popping to say the least.

Still, it is not the high resolution display that ought to capture your attention in terms of the Zenbook UX303LN being the only standout feature, as there are other components underneath the hood that ought to catch your attention as well. For starters, how does having 12GB of RAM to keep your Zenbook UX303LN running sound to you?

In addition, one will also be able to perform various tasks on the road without breaking a sweat thanks to an Intel Core i7-4501U Haswell processor, the NVIDIA GT 840M graphics chipset, a 256GB solid state drive, a trio of USB ports, HDMI connectivity, an SD memory card reader, a mini DisplayPort, and a backlit keyboard, all of it crammed into a chassis that tips the scales at 3.2 pounds. Initial research has shown that the ASUS Zenbook UX303LN will retail north of $1,200, but until ASUS reveals an official recommended retail price, it would be best not to speculate.

ASUS Zenbook NX500 Touted To Feature 4K Display

ASUS Zenbook NX500 Touted To Feature 4K DisplayWord on the street has it that ASUS of Taiwan is working on a brand new 15” Ultrabook, the ASUS Zenbook NX500, and if the rumors surrounding it prove to be true, then it ought to arrive with a 4K Ultra HD display. Other possible features of this particular Ultrabook would include an aluminum body (to keep up with the times, I suppose), an anti-glare display, as well as ear rockin’ Bang & Olufsen audio. Do bear in mind that the Zenbook NX500 would not be the inaugural 15” Ultrabook from ASUS, and it seems that it will most probably arrive with an Intel Haswell CPU, not to mention that there is every possibility of a discrete graphics card underneath the hood to help it chug along nicely visually.

ASUS Zenbook UX301 will have 2,560 x 1,440 touchscreen beneath Gorilla Glass 3 case (video)

ASUS Zenbook UX301 will have 133inch 2,560 x 1440 touchscreen beneath Gorilla Glass 3 video

The ASUS Zenbook Infinity first showed off its icy Gorilla Glass-clad curves at Computex back in June, and now it’s resurfaced in a video that’s making the rounds ahead of ASUS’ press conference here at IFA. Incidentally, the video hints at a new name — the Zenbook UX301 — and also clarifies most of the main specs. According to the video, the UX301 will have a Retina-esque 13.3-inch, 2,560 x 1,440 multitouch display, a Haswell Core i7 CPU, 802.11ac WiFi and ASUS SonicMaster audio tech. The flagship Ultrabook will no doubt draw fans of thin design as well, thanks to the 15.5mm (0.64-inch) profile. We’ll likely have a chance to play with it ourselves soon at ASUS’s upcoming event, so stay tuned. In the meantime, there’s a video after the break.

ASUS Zenbook Infinity official with a Gorilla Glass 3 lid, touchscreen and backlit keyboard (eyes-on video)

ASUS Zenbook Infinity with Gorilla Glass 3 lid unveiled

Just as promised, ASUS has unveiled its Zenbook Infinity at Computex 2013 in Taipei. Being the first laptop — let alone an Ultrabook — to boast a Gorilla Glass 3 lid, it’s able to take advantage of three times the scratch resistance than the material’s predecessor. This has allowed ASUS to achieve a maximum thickness of just 15.5mm, or about 14 percent thinner than the previous line of Zenbooks. But would the glass survive a drop? According to the product manager, the laptop’s passed various drop tests, but only time will tell if it’s as good as he promised.

Despite the slimmer body, the Zenbook Infinity surprises us with a built-in touchscreen as well as a backlit keyboard. There’s also a USB 3.0 port on each side, along with an SD card slot, micro-HDMI port and a Mini DisplayPort. No word on the other specs or prices just yet as this laptop won’t be out until Q4, so stay tuned for future announcements. Check our our eyes-on video after the break.

ASUS Zenbook Infinity Ultrabook to appear at Computex 2013 with Gorilla Glass 3 lid

ASUS’ Transformer Book hybrid may have just graduated from our review testing, but the company already has a new product to tempt you. The Zenbook Infinity will be the “world’s first Ultrabook with a lid made form Corning Gorilla Glass 3” and will be revealed in full at Taipei’s Computex 2013 in a few weeks. It’ll measure in at just 15.5mm thick, which a full 14 percent thinner than previous Zenbooks. Next-generation Gorilla Glass will cover the outer lid and the keyboard surround, although you can expect to see that familiar concentric circle pattern beneath the protection. ASUS says the Ultrabook will launch Q3 2013, but expect to see the full specs before then.

Asus Zenbook Touch U500VZ Spotted On Asus Site

zenbook uv500 Asus Zenbook Touch U500VZ Spotted On Asus SiteSome folks go for bird watching, others prefer to stake it out in the wild for some sort of wildlife spotting sessions, but when you have your life intertwined with the online world for hours on end each day, you know for sure that we are not here to look for any kind of organic lifeforms. Rather, we are always on the lookout for new and unreleased devices, hoping to get the scoop as early as possible. One quietly introduced device that appeared on Asus’ website would be the Asus Zenbook Touch U500VZ that comes in a 15” form factor.

It does seem as though the Asus Zenbook Touch U500VZ will feature a touch panel display, making it more or less a version of the UX51Vz with just that as everything else about the system specifications do seem to be similar. Underneath the hood, there will be a Core i7-3632QM processor, a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M graphics processor, dual 256GB SSDs, IPS technology for its Full HD touchscreen, among others. No idea on pricing and availability as at press time.

Zenbook Touch U500VZ quietly surfaces on ASUS website, price and availability still MIA

Zenbook Touch U500VZ surfaces on ASUS website

A 15-inch Zenbook Touch U500VZ has quietly appeared on ASUS’ website. Though the company has yet to announce this model officially, it’s hardly a surprise, as its 13-inch UX31A is already available with a capacitive display, and the line’s 11-inch models are confirmed to get touchscreens as well. Aside from the new panel, this machine’s specs look familiar; it packs a Core i7-3632QM processor, discrete NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M graphics and dual 256GB SSDs. Naturally, the touchscreen features IPS technology and boasts the same 1080p resolution as other Zenbooks. Though the laptop is listed online, price and availability aren’t yet clear, but for now you can click through to the website and feast your eyes.

    [Thanks, Bob]

ASUS expands its Zenbook line of Ultrabooks to include 14- and 15-inch models

ASUS expands its Zenbook line of Ultrabooks to include 14- and 15-inch models

About a year ago, when Ultrabooks were first starting to go on sale, ASUS was one of the first out of the gate with some lightweight, Intel-approved ultraportables. Since then, it’s released a handful of iterations, including redesigned models with improved keyboards and sharper screens. That’s a lot for a 12-month period, but there’s one area where it fell behind: it tended to ignore larger-screened ultraportables, even as its competitors started selling models with 14- and 15-inch screens. That changed today, as the company announced three new Zenbooks, the 14-inch UX42VS and the 15-inch UX52VS and U500VZ, all of which will go on sale next month. Though the company hasn’t issued granular pricing for each possible configuration, we know that prices in the US will range from $699 at the low end all the way up to $2,000.

So what do these have to offer, aside from a larger footprint? For starters, the UX42VS weighs 1.9kg (4.19 pounds) and has a chassis that whittles down to 6mm. It makes room for an optical drive, unlike ASUS’ smaller Zenbooks, and features NVIDIA GT645M graphics with 1GB of dedicated video memory. Like any other ultaportable worth its salt, it will be offered with Core i3, i5 and i7 processors, though this guys steps up to 6GB of RAM and up to 1TB of hybrid hard drive storage.

Moving on, the 15-inch UX525VS (pictured) has a Core i5 or i7 Ultrabook-grade CPU, up to 10GB of memory (!) and up to 1TB in hybrid hard drive storage. The graphics card is the same 645M as on the 14-inch model. As for the U500VZ, it isn’t an Ultrabook at all, as it has a standard-voltage, quad-core Core i7 processor. Other specs include 8GB of memory, a 1080p display and a beefier GT650M GPU, this time with 2GB of video memory. Despite the horsepower, though, it weighs in at a relatively light 2kg (4.4 pounds) and measures 6mm thick. Finally, wrapping things up, ASUS still plans to sell touchscreen versions of its 11- and 13-inch Zenbook Prime Ultrabooks. No word on availability for any of these, but we’ll follow up with more details as they come in.

    Asus Touch Zenbook Hands-On! (Updating)

Our very own Eliane Fiolet is at the Asus Windows 8 event in New York City–yes, there are two technology events going on today–where Asus has just announced five–count them, five–new lines of Windows 8 PCs. The new lines are the VivoTab, VivoBook, the Transformer Book, the Touch Zenbook, and the Asus All-in-One. Let’s take a look at Asus’ new laptop flagship:

    Visualized 50 shades of Nexus

ASUS is never shy at showing off its creative side. At Taiwan Designers’ Week last Sunday, we spotted the company’s above art installation dubbed “Palette”: a mesmerizing circle of 50 overlapping Nexus 7 back covers, each in its very own shade of color. Interestingly, all of these were actually used in the development process of Google’s Nexus 7, which just goes to show the kind of mad dedication ASUS had put into the joint project.

But wait, there’s more! To match the event’s “Flow” theme this year, ASUS decided to also show off parts of the design process that determined the final appearance of its other hero products — hence the title “Becoming” for the booth’s own theme. For instance, much like what the company’s lovely Michelle Hsiao showed us on the Engadget Show, the booth again featured a handful of tablet chassis parts and dummies (mainly of PadFone, Zenbook, Transformer Prime and a 7-inch device) at different stages of their development, complemented by a generous selection of colors and finishes. Only this time the designers used some of them to create gradient wall art that we wouldn’t mind having at home. Check them out after the break.
