App Turns iPhone into 3D Camera
Posted in: iPhone, Today's Chili
It sounds like a gag, but it isn’t. TwinShot3D is an application which will take stereo images with your iPhone. It does it not by magically adding a lens, but by guiding you to take two shots and then combining them to make a 3D image. You’ll need the usual 3D spex to view the pictures, and — yes — you could make these yourself manually in Photoshop, but the idea of this cheap $2 application is to make the whole thing speedy and fun.
There is still some manual labor involved — the software guides you in taking the pictures and you need to move the iPhone slightly to the side between the two exposures. When this is done, you are prompted to drag one image over another to line up some background elements. We love these little time-waster apps for the iPhone. The only trouble we can, ahem, see here is the need for the blue and red glasses. It’s a pain to carry them around.
