Apple’s App Store Blows Past 300,000

These days it seems that hardly a week goes by without learning about some new milestone for Apple. This weekend, it seems, the company hit a pretty impressive one with its App Store, which crossed the 300,000 mark–and, naturally, just kept on going. That number includes both iPhone and iPad-centric apps.

The total includes roughly 200,000 paid and 100,000 free apps. Apple, surprisingly, hasn’t done much to talk up the number yet–the company is most likely waiting until its OS X event in Cupertino later this week to make an official announcement about the numbers.

The question, as always, remains whether or not app stores from Google’s Android, RIM’s BlackBerry, Palm, and, most recently, Windows Phone 7 will ever be able to catch up. Also, no word on how many of the aforementioned apps are fart-centric.
