Artist Envisions Boba Fett’s Escape from the Sarlacc Pit

I always felt like the exit of Boba Fett in Return of the Jedi was rather flippant on the part of George Lucas. I mean Boba had been a cool character, and played an important role in the story. I always rather disliked how Boba was written out of the series with so little fanfare. I wanted to see him and Luke or Han get into a duel and have Boba die at the hands of a hero. I didn’t want Boba to basically be blundered into death by getting randomly tossed into a Sarlacc pit. I have often wondered what the Boba’s time in that pit might have been like, and what could have happened to him.

I can’t imagine a rocket pack equipped bounty hunter just giving up. Artist Sergey Grechanyuk created a fantastic illustration that shows what those moments in the pit might have been like, with Boba Fett wielding his knife and stabbing away at the monster’s tentacles.

A series of subsequent panels show Fett escaping and walking right out of the Sarlacc pit and off into the desert. Even if he couldn’t reach his blaster or a knife, I always wondered why Boba didn’t fire up his jetpack again and fly out of the pit.
