Casio is celebrating their Billionth calculator sold. That’s a lot of calculators! The very first calculator from Casio was their model 001. It went on sale way back in 1965. Okay, maybe I shouldn’t say WAY back in 65′, if you were born that year, you’re only 41. So, 41 years ago, the Casio model 001 sold for $2,200. That was a lot of money in 1965! They decided they’d celebrate a billion by releasing a list of their favorite words that can be written on the display and read when you turn the calculator upside down. The spokesman for Casio said, Everyone has fond memories of making rude and funny words on the display when they should really have been concentrating in class.” Boy, isn’t that true! Those were my exact thoughts when I saw they put together a list. So, here is Casio’s top 10:
- Boobies – 5318008
- Bellies – 5317738
- Boobless – 55378008
- Bodies – 531608
- Sizzles – 5372215
- Gobbles – 5378806
- Google – 376006
- Boogie – 316008
- Shell Oil – 71077345
- Esso – 0553
And following up with that, here’s the English letters that can be written with the digits of a calculator:
1 = I
2=Z
3=E
4=h
5=S
6=G
7=L
8=B
0=O
If I created the list, I would have also included:
- Hello – 07734
- Blog – 6078
- Hi – 14
- Lego – 0637
Ahhh.. good old calculator fun Congrats Casio!
