CD Stand Conjures Cover Flow into the Material World

Ishelf

Sweet recursion! This little CD stand is hardware mimicking software which itself copies hardware. To top even that, the iShelf isn’t even real — it’s a concept designed by Li Jianye and featured at our favorite vapor-ware monger, Yanko Design.

The Cover Flow inspired iShelf holds five CDs in their jewel cases, proudly displaying them as if they were sitting within Apple’s iTunes itself. If this ever came to market I’d snap them up as novelty toys for friends. Just remember one thing, Li Jianye: This needs to be made in glossy piano black for the "wet floor" style reflections to complete the uncanny effect.
