Commodore 64 Returns, Sort Of
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe much beloved and (for most intents and purposes) long defunct Commodore 64 platform is set to make a comeback. Commodore has re-released the iconic early personal computer, offering it in a number of configurations, ranging in price from $250 to $895. On the high end of the scale, you get a 1TB hard drive, Blu-ray drive, and 4M of RAM.
The product comes as Commodore re-asserts its ownership of its own brand. Said Peter Bromage, a VP at the company, “I’m sure you’ll appreciate the Commodore thing has been in a state of flux over the last 20 years,” Peter Bromage, the vice president of sales and marketing for Commodore said in January. “But now the ownership is resolved, we 100 percent own the brand.”
The company will also be offering up a re-issue of its Amiga brand, including the Amiga 1000.
