Good news, car shoppers: McLaren Automotive has unveiled an online configurator for its MP4-12C supercar. Bring a big wallet.
The configurator lets you choose from 17 different exterior paint finishes, including eight Special and six Elite colors. It also lets you fiddle with the MP4-12C’s interior, giving you a choice of custom leather options.
Inside, the car features a portrait touch-screen, which is similar to the upcoming, all-electric 2012 Tesla Model S. The McLaren MP4-12C also comes with a bespoke entertainment and communications center, consisting of a Meridian two-channel speaker system, Bluetooth, a 40GB hard drive with media player, and an electronic user manual. The system also features USB, PDMI, and audio jacks, plus iPod and Zune compatibility.
A separate IRIS option upgrades the car’s telematics system to support voice control for the navigation system. It also doubles the hard drive capacity and adds a photo viewer and an e-mail client. A WLAN radio lets owners transfer media wirelessly from a laptop, and the stereo system goes from four to seven speakers.
The MP4-12C itself features a 600-horsepower, turbocharged, 3.8-liter V8 engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and is expected to blast off 0-60 runs in under three seconds. It will cost about $200,000 when it arrives at eight U.S. dealers in 2011, according to a separate Car and Driver report. Sounds good to us; we’ll be out back picking some money off of the tree.
