Daily Gift: Sony Bloggie MHS-PM5

By now we all know that the Cisco’s Flip isn’t the only
pocket camcorder in town, right? Sure Pure Digital pioneered the space, but in
a lot of respects, the line is playing catch up with a glut of entries that
have subsequently flooded the space from companies like Creative, JVC, RCA, and
Kodak.

Sony entered the field with the Bloggie–a worthy competitor
with one of the lowest price tags in the space. The sturdy little camcorder offers
a lot for its $169 MSRP (if you dig round a bit, you can likely find it for at
least $20 cheaper)–enough to nab four stars over at PCMag.

For starters, there’s that super cool lens, which swivels a
full 270 degrees. The Bloggie also features sharp image capture and can take
5MP still images. There’s only 26MB of built-in memory, but the camera has an SD/SDHC
slot, so you can fit a lot more on the thing.

It’s a great choice for anyone in your life who needs to
upgrade from vacation slides.
