Elevated Bus Drives Over Traffic, Will Not Be Stopped

You think you know traffic jams? You have no idea what one is until you’ve experienced China’s infamous traffic jams. The country has some epic gridlock problems, but this cool elevated bus might help if they go ahead with their plans for it.

It’s called the Transit Elevated Bus (TEB) and it could be the future of public transportation. Basically, the bus would carry up to 1,200 passengers and the key to the whole thing is that it drives over the traffic to get passengers to their destination quickly and safely, and at a much lower cost than a subway system. The bus would stop at overhead stations, and passengers would exit through the roof, while cars continue to drive underneath it.

It’s only a concept right now, but it has so much potential. A working mini model was recently presented at the 19th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo. This could go a long way toward alleviating congestion and reducing pollution in China. I hope they make a full-scale version.
