Folder Guide is a great little freeware application that will let you customize a list of folders to place in your right-click context menu that is displayed in Windows Explorer. If you are constantly navigating around Windows Explorer then I am sure you’ll find this extension useful.
It has a nice configuration editor so that you can easily modify the folders that are available in the context menu as well. The editor pretty much makes it a no-brainer. Here are some of the other features that you will find in Folder Guide:
- Quick access folders in Open/Save As/Browse dialogs.
- Quick access folders in Windows Explorer and the desktop and the Star button.
- Easy to add folder to the list of “Folder Guide”.
- Easy to edit or reorder folders in the list of “Folder Guide”.
- Runs automatically as part of the context menu.
Folder Guide is essentially a bookmark system for your folders. Microsoft must have seen that they needed to make finding your folders easier because in Windows Vista they have your “Favorite Links” in the sidebar of Windows Explorer. It gives you quick access to your favorite folders which is essentially the whole point of Folder Guide. I think it would be a great idea if the Vista team had made a context menu option as an additional way to access the folders.
