Fusion Exosuit Lets Someone Take Over Your Body Remotely

Growing up in my house, we had a system sort of like this exosuit that would let you take over someone else’s body. Our system involved grabbing the wrists of my younger brother and making him smack himself whilst asking “Why are you hitting yourself?” The Fusion system works in a very similar manner, only the person taking over your body uses a VR headset and the surrogate being taken over puts on a wearable exosuit.

Developed by engineers at Japan’s Keio University, the Fusion system allows the surrogate to be remotely led by a pair of robotic arms with humanoid hands. The real use for this is to train people from a distance on how to do things. It sounds weird and reminds me of the flick Gamer, and of the recent movie Upgraded where robotic systems allow someone to take over your body.

But if I had one, I’d use the robotic arms, remote controls, and humanoid hands to smack my surrogate around. Or better yet, I’d connect robotic arms to the surrogate’s wrists with Velcro straps then use him as my remote-controlled puppet.
