Google Ads Coming to a Newspaper Near You

Google has already been testing print-ads in a handful of newspapers, but now they’re ready to expand the program further so that 225 different newspapers in the United States will have them. Major newspapers are involved including the Chicago Tribune, San Jose Mercury News, The New York Times, and the Washington Post.

This is a considerable addition to the amount of people that will be served the ads.  According to Reuters, Google Ads in print form will be found in 32 of the 35 largest metropolitan markets. This gives them a total audience of about 30 million people!

One of the reasons Google says that they’re getting so involved in a printed ad program is that it gives online advertisers the chance to have their ads placed in a printed newspaper and reach a larger market. It was designed to bring online advertisers back to papers.

Here I thought printed papers were slowly dying-off, but apparently they’ll be around for a long time to come if Google is getting so involved!
