As seen in the above image, Google may be experimenting with a new search attribute on their search pages. I welcome the addition of the Date drop-down box because it helps to reduce your results to display the most current articles only. This feature is currently an option that you can select on the advanced search screen but many people never wander there because of the extra click that is needed to get to that screen. After all, Google does try to minimize the number of clicks a user has to perform in order to get what they want (good practice is always 3 clicks or less).
