“Jurassic Park” captured the imagination of countless dinosaur fans around the world, and now artist Sami Mustonen aspires to bring that movie magic to brick lovers.
Mustonen launched a “Jurassic Park” Lego set, a project 65 million years in the making, on Lego’s Kickstarter-esque Web site Cuusoo. At the time of this writing, Mustonen has more than 3,700 votes out of the 10,000 needed — a figure that Lego requires before officially considering the project.
When “Jurassic Park 3D” came around earlier this year, Mustonen was bit by a prehistoric bug of inspiration and set out to make a Lego version of the mammoth Jurassic Park entrance gate, the big scary T-Rex, and the colorful tour truck (a souped-up Ford Explorer). Naturally, Mustonen also designed detailed minifigures of Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler, and smooth operator Dr. Ian Malcolm to round out the set.
