Late last week, HTC announced it plans to release its HTC One in the U.S. “before the end of April“ after its official delay had been confirmed a few weeks prior. Many people were speculating what could be the cause of the delay, with some reports coming in the company’s manufacturers no longer considering HTC a “tier one customer.” Rather than let rumors continue as to why the HTC One was delayed, HTC has taken the offensive to reveal the true cause of its delay.
HTC chief marketing officer Benjamin Ho spoke with the Wall Street Journal to discuss the purpose of the HTC One’s delay. “Our friends in the media have been asking why there has been a delay in shipments for the new HTC One, whether there is a component shortage,” Ho said in the interview. “There is some shortage, because the phone’s camera was designed specifically for us, and production cannot be ramped up so quickly.” (more…)
