IK Multimedia has recently released the iRig PRE universal XLR microphone interface for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Priced at just $40, the device features an adjustable gain control, a 48-volt phantom power and an audio output jack. You can also download two free apps for the iRig PRE such as iRig Recorder and VocaLive. The iRig PRE draws its power from a 9V battery, offering up to 30-hour of operating time when used with dynamic microphones, or up to 10-hour with phantom-powered condenser studio microphones.
