Sen, John McCain (R-Ariz.) told Bloomberg TV’s Al Hunt Friday night that if asked, he’d “look forward” to campaigning on behalf of Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), whose reelection is being challenged by Liz Cheney.
“If someone wants to run for office, that’s fine with me,” McCain said on “Political Capital with Al Hunt,” referring to the 2014 Republican primary challenge to Enzi mounted by the Bush administration vice president’s daughter. “I will never, ever tell someone they shouldn’t run for office.”
McCain and Dick Cheney have had a tense relationship, with Cheney bashing McCain in his book for suspending his 2008 presidential campaign during the financial crisis and criticizing McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate.
