“Daily Show” host Jon Stewart on Wednesday skewered Apple for its involvement in a raid on Gizmodo editor Jason Chen’s home.

“The cops had to bash in the guy’s door? Don’t they know there’s an app for that?” Stewart said, before displaying a graphic calling the company “Appholes.”

Chen returned home last week to find his front door broken and police in his house confiscating electronic equipment. The raid came days after Gizmodo posted a sneak peak at an iPhone prototype an Apple employee accidentally left in a California bar. Gizmodo paid $5,000 for the device and posted all the details on its Web site; Apple later requested Gizmodo return the device. Police took nearly two dozen items from Chen’s home, including computers, his iPhone, and an iPad.

Last night, Stewart joked that Apple is now becoming “the man.”
