If you were like me, and not happy with Nintendo when it discontinued the NES Classic Edition, you will be glad to hear this news. The Japanese video game maker has announced that the miniature 8-bit system will be back on June 29, 2018.
The real question will be how many Nintendo will make. It has offered no guidance on that tidbit. The first time around it only made a fraction of the number needed to meet demand. That meant scalpers bought them up and sold them at big markups, pissing gamers off the world over.
It will pack the same features and games as it did last time around. That means 30 different titles of 8-bit gaming goodness including Super Mario Bros., Metroid, Donkey Kong, Zelda, and lots more. The MSRP for the NES Classic Edition will be $59.99 – about 1/3rd of what it will cost you to buy one of the scalped ones these days.
