Another holiday season is approaching us and there is nothing like the mobs of people that go shopping on the day after Thanksgiving. That day is typically referred to Black Friday and it earned its name because that is the one day where most retail stores are guaranteed not to be in the red (a.k.a. guaranteed to make money).
Everyone wants to know what the deals are going to be like before hand so that they can scope out and plan their attack shopping…that is why a site called BFAds.net exists. People send in scanned images of advertisements for the sales that will occur after Thanksgiving. At this point they don’t really have much but in the next two weeks I’m sure they will get a lot of submissions!
Well, the big deal last year was the $378 laptop that Walmart offered which didn’t have any really amazing specs (which is obvious for the price). This year, however, they will be offering a $398 laptop starting on November 5 and going until November 11. So this isn’t a Black Friday sale but is amazing enough to be one. Here is a list of the specs for Compaq Presario V5305WM laptop:
- 2.00 GHz Mobile AMD Sempron™ Processor 3300+
- 512MB 333MHz DDR (upgradable to 2GB)
- ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M IGP (128MB)
- 60GB 5400RPM Hard-Drive
- 24X DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
- 15.4” WXGA High-Definition BrightView Widescreen (1280 x 800) Display
- Integrated 56k modem, 100mb Network Card and 54g 802.11b/g Wireless Connectivity
- 1 ExpressCard/54 Slot (Not PCMCIA)
- 10.2″(L) x 14.1″(W) x 1.38″(min H) /1.77″(max H)
- 6.4 lbs
There is a limit of 1 per customer and each store has to have at least 15 in stock…and once employees get their hands on them I’m sure there will be at least 2 left.
So it looks like some of the fun may be starting a little early this year. If you’re scouting out good deals then you should subscribe to the RSS or email list that BFAds.net has. Also, as some of the sweet electronic deals emerge I’ll probably let everyone know here.
