When it comes to smartphones, you can more or less say that Nokia has already lost the race a long time ago across the globe, no thanks to full touchscreen devices from the iOS and Android camps. Well, the Finnish phone manufacturing company has come up with their Windows Phone 8 collection of handsets recently, but this does not mean that they have forgotten to cater to other developing countries whose population do not have the kind of purchasing power to change their smartphone every single year to a new flagship model. Featurephones, then, still have a place in this world, and the Nokia Asha 310 is the latest featurephone to arrive from Nokia, sporting dual SIM capability not to mention Wi-Fi connectivity for the first time in a device of its class.
As the Nokia Asha 310 allows you to enjoy the benefits of both Wi-Fi and dual SIM, it will, in the long run, help you cut down on costs as you get to save money by choosing a wireless network for accessing the Internet, as well as having the flexibility to use the right SIM card for the right purpose, all without having to even change your handset or to turn off your mobile device in order to swap SIM cards.
After all, Nokia makes life easy with the Nokia Asha 310 courtesy of its Easy Swap Dual SIM technology that was specially designed to make swapping between different SIM cards a snap. This is made possible as your main SIM card remains comfortably tucked away behind the battery, but the second SIM card slot is at the side of the phone, letting you switch the second SIM easily, all without having to turn off the phone. The included SIM manager lets you assign unique profiles for up to five SIM cards, and you can even define just which SIM card you want to use for calling, sending text messages or for using Internet data.
This GSM/EDGE 900/1800 featurephone will come with a 3-inch WQVGA, capacitive touch display, up to 20MB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP connectivity, and up to 17 hours of talk-time. Expect to see the Nokia Asha 310 hit Asia, India, the Middle East, Africa and Brazil sometime in Q1 2013 for $102 a pop.
