WikiLeaks means a lot of very different things to a lot of very different people. But this? Well, this is just…different… A Pakistani company is invoking the name of the controversial whistle blowing site in a new ad for its feminine hygiene product, the Butterfly.
Thanks to advertising agency RG Blue Communications, there are now a number of billboards in the country’s financial capital of Karachi carrying the slogan, “WikiLeaks … Butterfly doesn’t.”
The agency claims to have “received a very good response,” thanks in no small part to the fact that it’s gone viral via Twitter and Facebook. RG Blue’s art director Munir Bhatti explains the ad thusly, “I could have also shown a girl like other ads have. But the idea was to make it very different and to use the word WikiLeaks–and that’s what this is.”
Fair enough, Munir. Fair Enough.
