After 36 hours, seven of the 14 couples competing in a “Kissathon” at a resort in Pattaya, Thailand were still standing, shattering the former record of 32 hours, seven minutes and 14 seconds, set by a German couple, back in 2009.
The event kicked off yesterday at 6 AM, local time at a shopping mall, with slews of tourists present, snapping pictures. The event’s organizers really didn’t expect to make it this far. Somporn Naksuetrong, the manager of Pattaya’s Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks museum, which organized the event, called the whole thing “amazing,” adding, “We didn’t think we would find anybody that could break the record.”
The money helps, no doubt. The winner of the competition will get a diamond ring worth $1,600, and the equivalent of $100,000 in cash.
