It has been around for a long, long time and there are still a lot of users out there who haven’t updated to subsequent iterations. The company has been trying to raise awareness about the potential threats that may rise after support for Windows XP is stopped. It has even started offering a $100 discount to users who jump ship from Windows XP to Windows 8.1, the latest iteration. But it appears that those migrating prefer Windows 7 over Windows 8.
