Droid Eris available for $30, shuns Black Friday theatrics

From everything we can tell, this new Droid Eris deal has nothing to do with the day after Thanksgiving and everything to do with the pure insanity of Walmart Wireless / LetsTalk.com. The same people that brought us the $30 Pixi have slashed the $99 Eris down to $30, which does wonders for removing the Eris from regular Droid comparisons. Judged purely on its own merits, $30 is a pretty smashing price for this handset, but in two years when that hefty Verizon contract is up it’s probably going to seem even more outdated by new versions of Android and faster processors than it does now.

Black Friday deals roundup, starring SonyStyle, Sam’s Club, and more

It’s less than 24 hours before the US Consumer Conglomerate commences its attack on the brick-and-mortar retail battlefield. We’ve already seen a number of outlets show their Black Friday cards, but now some of the bigger guns are revealing their specials. SonyStyle is taking a couple hundred dollars off of VAIO laptops, and offering some even deeper discounts on BRAVIA TVs. Sam’s Club? Sears? RadioShack? Yep, their fliers are now out in the open. Even Canada’s getting in on the fun, at least as far as NCIX is concerned. Stuff yourself full of turkey tonight, there’s a war coming — we suggest you prepare properly.

Sprint finalizes Virgin Mobile USA acquisition, rushes out to snag some cranberry sauce

It’s hard to say if these guys were just looking to get this whole thing finalized before the holiday break, but either way, all the requisite i’s have been dotted and t’s crossed. As of today, Sprint Nextel has acquired Virgin Mobile USA — a process that began back in late July — and frankly, there’s nothing you can do about it. The move will obviously position Sprint as a bigger player in the prepaid space, but outside of that presumably true assumption, it’s tough to say what else the newfound lovers will do together. So, will the Facebook statuses be updated soon as well? Hello?

We suspect this will be the final round of Black Friday ad leaks — you know, considering that Black Friday is but a few days away — but it seems as if the gadget world has saved the best (or at least the biggest) for last. As usual, we’re not spotting any major steals that’d be worth lining up a dozen hours in advance for, but the $78 Blu-ray player and $10 BD films from Wally World may be worth paying your neighbor to snag for you. Amazon offers $50 PSN card with PSP Go purchases, for tonight only

Hey impulse buyers, want a PSP Go? Amazon is offering a $50 PSN card for anyone who picks up the portable tonight, in black or white. Seeing as you’ll be having to spend that much on digital titles anyway, it’s a pretty good long-term $50 discount, bringing the suggested value of the Go to about $195. It’s still not as financially sound an option as a PSP-3000, but if you value style over price figures and disc-based media, this might be one of the best incentives before Christmas. Offer ends at midnight PT / 3:00AM ET — after that, it turns right back into a pumpkin.

Walmart’s $300 HP G60 laptop gets real, detailed

There wasn’t exactly much secrecy left around this one after ads started popping up online, but Walmart’s now set aside any doubt about its $300 HP G60-519WM laptop with a listing for it on its website, which also thankfully includes the complete specs for it. Apparently built exclusively for Walmart by HP, this particular model packs a 15.6-inch WXGA display, along with previously rumored specs including a 2.2GHz Celeron 900 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, a LightScribe DVD burner, and some basic Intel GMA 4500M integrated graphics — not to mention Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit edition for an OS. Not exactly the worst deal for someone looking for bigger, more full-featured alternative to a netbook, to be sure, but we have a feeling this is just a taste of what’s to come for bargain hunters on Black Friday.

Sprint backtracks, cancels $100 Pre service credit offer

No idea what kind of Zima-based shenanigans are going on in Sprint’s marketing department today, but that less-than-impressive $100 Palm Pre service credit promotion was all apparently a mistake, according to John Paczkowski at the Wall Street Journal. Sprint says the promotion was put into the system by error and has since been pulled and canceled, although customers who signed up during the glorious six hours the deal was live will still get the credit — and if you act fast enough, you might still be able to get in, because the promo is still live as we write this. Amazing.

Palm Pre drops to $99 at LetsTalk online store, for a limited time

It’s a limited time offer, and the handset is currently out of stock — you’ll have to wait a few days for delivery — but cutesy online phone retailer LetsTalk is offering the Pre for a mere $99 after a $100 rebate and a $100 instant discount. This sort of price flexibility bodes well for the truly budget conscious eying this phone, though as demonstrated time and time again: you’re saving a lot more in the long run with a cheap plan than a cheap phone, something that’s been a lock since day one with the Pre.
