Dell Peju tablet leaked, docking station and all (video)

Well, well — what have we here? If you’ll recall, we heard that Dell was scheming to one-up its own Streak line with a so-called Peju introduction sometime in 2011. Looks like we’re drawing ever closer. Dell Peju Insider unsurprisingly has a boatload of internal documents showcasing the newfangled device, and if the specifications actually stick, we’re looking at quite the performer. It’ll purportedly ship with a 10.1-inch panel, front and rear-facing cameras, a slab of Gorilla Glass across the front and a homegrown docking station that provides a trio of USB ports, a gigabit Ethernet jack, HDMI output and audio port. We aren’t so certain it’ll ship with a Core i5 and Windows 8 compatibility, but those who’d rather throw caution to the wind can dive in just after the break.

Motorola Titanium coming to Sprint on July 24th for $149, still stubbornly rocking Eclair

When Motorola took the wraps off it’s rugged Titanium in May it left out a pair of pretty crucial details — namely price and release date. Thankfully, our friends over at Sprintfeed scored some details and it looks like the “Sturdy and QWERTY” Android handset will be landing on July 24th for $150. Otherwise there’s nothing new to report, you’re still getting the same military-grade resistance to the elements, support for Nextel Direct Connect, and five megapixel camera. Sadly, it’s also still shipping with Eclair leaving this Moto a solid two generations behind the current crop of Google phones. Still, if you need a smartphone with a physical keyboard that can withstand some serious abuse there aren’t too many other options out there.

Update: We just received the image as well from an anonymous source — looks legit!

[Thanks, Jon]

Facebook Vibes outed in video calling code, related music service seems a lock

You never really know what you’re onto until you look, but who knew “looking” involved “digging through source code?” Software guru Jeff Rose had his curiosity piqued yesterday with the proper launch of Facebook Video Calling, and rather than just being satisfied with things working, he took it upon himself to see how exactly things were coming together under the hood. Turns out, the program grabs a startlingly small download link called FacebookVideoCalling.jar, which in turn uses LiveConnect to allow the Java applet to fetch a few other things. This enables the program to source your Facebook user ID (as well as an application ID), and from there, the installer has permission to use two things: a video chat plugin called “peep,” and something else dubbed “vibes.” Curiously enough, only one of those two were launched to the world, so logical skeptics are obviously opining that Facebook has a connected music service up its sleeve. ‘Course, there’s no indication that said service will actually use the Vibes moniker, but we could definitely ponder worse titles. So, Mark — three months from now, another impromptu press event, announcing something even more awesome? We’re so there.

[Thanks, Raheem]

Nokia 700 ‘Zeta’ gets classy, dresses in white for leaked press shots

Representing a letter of the Greek alphabet can be a daunting task. The Nokia 700 “Zeta,” however, is busy getting primed for the massive duty on hand, indicated by a pair of possible press shots that surfaced from Indian site KnowYourMobile. A comparison of these new pics with the spyshots grabbed last week show very little difference besides the obvious color change, with the 1GHz, Symbian Belle-powered Zeta opting for a white front and chrome back instead of the black and candy-apple combo we saw previously. This could mean that, like many Nokia handsets before it, a rainbow of various hues will be available to choose from the moment the device launches. We sure hope that’s soon, because nobody wears white after Labor Day.

[Thanks, Mark]

Qualcomm Snapdragon roadmap leaks, Krait slithering on the scene soon

QualcommWe’ve gotten a few peeks at Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon chips, codenamed Krait, but now we’ve got a proper roadmap, including time frames for release, model numbers, and even details about the memory channels. Glancing at the slide above doesn’t reveal anything terribly surprising — the dual-core 8960 (LTE), 8270 (HSPA), and 8260A (HSPA+) will all be shipping to manufacturers later this quarter, in speeds ranging from 1.5GHz to 1.7GHz and come packing the latest Adreno 225 GPU. In Q3 of next year Qualcomm’s 28nm tech will trickle down from the high-end to mid-range phones, just ahead of the launch of those quad-core, 2GHz mobile monsters the company teased back in February. Check out the full PDF presentation at the source for more nitty-gritty details.

Update: Qualcomm has asked us to remove the link to the documentation in question.

Leaked HP presentation hints at faster 64GB TouchPad in August, Pre 3 in fall?

Go grab the Morton — you’re gonna need a grain or two. According to a “confidential HP product brief” sent anonymously to PreCentral, HP is on track to launch a new 64GB TouchPad next month, complete with a white glossy cabinet and a “processor bump,” along with support for AT&T’s HSPA+ network. The company just started shipping its 16GB and 32GB TouchPads, but even August wouldn’t be too soon for a speed boost, considering the tablet’s disappointing performance during our review. The presentation also lists the Pre 3 for a “fall” launch, along with that mysterious Opal tablet. Despite the so-called leaked confidential presentation, this rumor should be approached like any other — but on the other hand, with the Pre 3 making recent appearances at the FCC in both AT&T and Verizon flavors, HP’s latest webOS smartphone could easily be on-track to hit stores by autumn.

Leaked AMD roadmap reveals next-gen Fusion tablet chips

AMD Tablet Roadmap

Until recently, AMD has kept pretty mum on its tablet plans, with it only officially entering the fray last month. It’s clear that the first batch of Z-Series chips, codenamed Desna, are are not terribly different from the rest Fusion line but, according to a leaked roadmap, that will all change with its successor — Hondo. Supposedly the next gen of tablet APUs will ditch a number features that aren’t essential to burgeoning form factor, including VGA output, PCIe support, and couple of USB pathways. It will also add an “active standby” mode for maintaining connectivity while reducing power draw and cut TDP by about a third. Hondo is expect to enter production in Q2 of next year, and be succeeded by Samara which will feature a new graphics core. Check out the source link for a few more slides.

Toshiba Thrive WiFi tablet hitting Best Buy on July 10th?

Toshiba Thrive
Toshiba’s Thrive — the Honeycomb tablet that went so long without a name — has evidently snagged itself a July 10th street date, according to Best Buy’s inventory database. If you’ll recall, pre-orders for the 10.1-inch pad got underway June 13th, and though we’ve long been hearing it would go on sale July 10th, Toshiba has only been giving a loose ETA of mid-July. Our tipster’s informed us that their particular location’s received “quite a few” 16-giggers in-stock, and they’re just waiting to shine under the fluorescent showroom lights. So, it’ll still be about a week’s time until you can get your paws on one, but in the meantime, scoot past the break and you’ll find some Thrive packages in the flesh, er, cardboard.

[Thanks, Anonymous]

Verizon data charges leak continues, $30 tethering for 4G customers

The scan above purports to show a Verizon customer brochure that will appear in stores next Thursday, revealing nothing beyond the detailed leaks we’ve already reported but at least providing some reassuringly crinkled corroboration of the salient details. New customers will barred from the happy land of unlimited data, and will instead have to cough up tiered monthly fees ranging from $10 for 75MB up to $80 for 10GB, plus an extra $20 for tethering rights. In a separate turn to this tale, we hear that customers who want to tether to a 4G handset will have to pay $30 per month to keep Big Red happy. This might come as a shock if you’ve been living it up on the free tethering offer that ends next week, but we had a strong inkling it was coming. Besides, it’s not all bad: those 30 bucks will get you unlimited data on the fastest LTE network around, whereas $20 crew must make do with a mere 2GB monthly.

[Thanks, Verizon Guy]

Droid 3 leaks reveal manual, confirm July 7th and 14th release dates

The oft-leaked Motorola Droid 3 is dripping information yet again, this time over on Droid-Life where an internal flyer confirms it will be available at retail locations July 14th, with direct fulfillment orders (upgrade in-store, get the phone by mail) starting a week earlier. If that’s somehow not enough, there’s also a PDF copy of the manual available for download but if you watched the tutorial videos there’s probably not much new information to be digested there. The one detail that continues to elude us however, is a confirmed price for Verizon’s QWERTY slider w/ 1080p camera and dual core processor, but after all the early reveals we’re sure you’ve had time to scrape together a suitable dowry.
