Hasta La Gadget!

It was just last week the Android-powered Archos 32 spontaneously burst into existence with a premature sale, and thanks to the FCC we can say today that we also know what it looks like. As you can see in the picture above, the “minidroid” appears to be a completely capacitive affair, with dedicated buttons and directional controls surrounding that 3.2-inch screen. The full filing also reveals built-in GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack and Archos’ trademark kickstand alongside Bluetooth and WiFi. While it does have a microphone as originally reported, there’s strangely no mention of a camera in the user’s manual, which actually suggests that circle on the back of the device may be the integrated speaker. (Here’s hoping we’re proven wrong.) On the connectivity front, ARCHOS seems to have the usual host of accessories planned including a 720p-capable DVR dock, but frustratingly the unit also requires a proprietary connector to transfer data and charge. Should the original leak be accurate, expect to see this one at e-tailers in the coming months for a penny under $150, an excellent price should the build quality equal the company’s codec support.

It’s rather astounding to believe we’ve come this far without Verizon or Motorola so much as recognizing the Droid 2’s existence, but with leaks like this on a weekly basis who needs traditional marketing? Astute reader Greg from North Carolina tells us his local Best Buy has those leaked dummy units out on shelves, and lo and behold, there’s a set of price tags right next to them. As originally rumored, the phone will launch at $199 with carrier subsidy and $599 should you choose to cart it home without a plan in tow. Still no solid confirmation of that August 12 release date, but at this rate we expect the handset may sell out before Verizon’s PR team breathes a word. Spot the full image after the break.

Update: On a related note, the original Droid is now “out of stock” on Verizon’s website.

Update 2: Oh what the hell, dropped in an official “coming soon” Droid 2 advertising supplement making its way into newspapers.

It’s one of the most barebones filings we’ve seen in recent memory, but there’s no mistaking that at least one Windows Phone 7 device from HTC is going to make a stateside debut. If we had to guess, we’d say that this is the first official look at whatever phone we spotted late last month, but the only identifying mark anywhere is a PD26100 model number. Based on the test reports, we know for sure that it’ll boast Bluetooth, 802.11n WiFi and support for GSM 850 / UMTS I and II, but it’s obviously still up in the air as to what carrier this will be headed for. Given AT&T’s own proclamation that it’s aiming to be the “premiere carrier” for WP7 in the States, we’d reckon that this bugger has a better-than-average chance at sitting quietly beside Apple’s iPhone 4 and Samsung’s Cetus in due time. Those “holidays” are drawing ever closer, you know?

Remember the HTC Glacier spotted in a database a few months ago? Neither did we, but it’s back and eating most every other smartphone’s pixel-pushing lunch. Here it is at number four on the GLBenchmark Pro 1.1 charts, where only one variant of Samsung’s Galaxy S and a pair of Tegra 2 tablets managed to keep it from claiming the top spot. AlienBabelTech, who found the entry, believes this is evidence the device has one of the new Snapdragon dual-cores, and though we won’t speculate that far, a series of coincidences point to a T-Mobile launch (and a bout of logic has us worrying about battery life) if or when it hits our shores.

Once upon a time, Dell’s Zino HD promised desktop parts in a tiny box and didn’t quite deliver the goods, but it was still cute and powerful enough a mini-desktop to earn a spot on our holiday gift guide. This time round, it looks like Dell might actually fulfill that original pledge, as support documents leaked at the company’s website show the box sporting an AMD RS880M chipset capable of socketing Phenom II quad-core processors. While it only comes with onboard Radeon HD 4250 graphics by default, a Mobility Radeon 5450 GPU is listed as a potential option at launch, and the box can now hold up to 8GB of 1066MHz DDR3 memory alongside 802.11n WiFi and Blu-ray drive options. On the front and back of the small box, you’ll find practically exactly the same ports, but there is a new optical S/PDIF socket capable of piping 7.1 surround sound. While there’s no guarantee all these options are slated for a stateside launch, we imagine Dell will either deliver or keep a tighter lid on these sorts of docs.
