Plethora of Palm Pre interface videos emerge from leaked emulator

Palm Pre secrets? That’s very quickly becoming a thing of the past. After getting some pretty good shots of webOS last week, the “invisible man” from PalmPreForum.org has uploaded an absolute ton of videos — fifteen in all, at last count — showcasing the interface from a leaked emulator given out to early developers (available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, in case you were wondering). Browser, tasks, memos, YouTube, Google Maps, backup, settings, copy and paste — frankly, we’re still wrapping our heads around all of them, and while it’s a shame we can’t see any multitouch gesture since he’s limited to a mouseclick, we’re not gonna be choosy here. Clear your afternoon schedule and check out the video playlist we’ve embedded after the break — and not to worry, the audio clears up right around the 9th video.

Windows 7 branding leaks out

You didn’t think Microsoft was going to ship Windows 7 with that same tired Vista-esque branding it’s been using on the betas and RCs, did you? No way, man — and if those crazy-cool wallpapers didn’t prove it to you, the eager monkeys at MS China have thoughtfully posted up the new branding for your perusal right now. We rather like it — it conveys a welcoming sense of lightness that contrasts well with the battleship-heavy aesthetic of Vista, and that’s pretty much exactly how Microsoft needs to position 7. A few more shots of the branding being used at the Chinese PCBETA event at the read link.

[Thanks, Nicola]

Pentax K-7 hands-on shots leak out

Poor Pentax. The company’s just three days away from the much-hyped May 21 launch of the K-7, and here we’ve already seen specs and press pics, and now we’ve got a whole slew of hands-on shots. Just as we’d heard before, the K-7 will pack a 14.6 megapixel sensor with a 720p movie mode and a 3-inch VGA display in a body just a hair smaller than the K200D. Of course, we’re really wondering how this guy’ll be priced — if it comes in around $1000, it’ll be a solid competitor to the Canon Rebel T1i and the Nikon D5000. Guess Pentax still has one surprise in store, eh? Tons more pics at the read link.

[Thanks, Rye]

Verizon HP Mini 1000 to run $199 on a two-year contract at launch

Yep, it looks like Verizon’s subsidized HP Mini 1000 will indeed launch on May 17th — and if these leaked screenshots are any indication, launch pricing will be set at $199 after a $50 rebate two-year contract and $299 after rebate for a one-year commitment. (The prices are marked “at launch ONLY” so we’re guessing they’ll go up sometime after.) As for specs, it’s nothing special, just a 80GB Atom machine with 1GB of RAM and a WWAN card, so really, we’d much rather take the subsidy on a USB 3G stick and spread the mobile broadband love to all our machines than be stuck with an underpowered netbook, but hey — it’s your call. One more pic after the break.

Hold the phone: T-Mobile G1 v2 to really be the Samsung Bigfoot?

Well well — it looks like whatever Android handset Motorola’s cooking up might not be the T-Mobile G1 v2 after all. Mobile-review just published this shot of a Samsung Bigfoot with a slider QWERTY keyboard, and we’ve got to say, it looks a hell of a lot more like the device in that leaked T-Mobile roadmap than that rendered Moto unit. (It also looks a lot like the Samsung Beat DJ, but that’s neither here nor there.) Not only that, but there’s also an early spec sheet and another image of a candybar set called the Spica — apart from the slider, Bigfoot and Spica are nearly identical lower-end versions of the I7500, with three-inch screens, three megapixel cameras, and Android 2.0 “Donut” preloaded. That certainly throws a monkey wrench into what we had thought was a neatly-tied little bow, but we’ve got to say we’re stoked to see so many Android sets appearing all at once. Now if someone could just tell us when and where these would ship, we’d be all set. Spec sheet after the break.

Mio S401 and S501 nav units leak out, due in May

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a new Mio navi hit Stateside — Mitac seems to be concentrating on the Magellan brand here — but it looks like there’s still some kick left in those boots: say hello to the Moov S401 and S501. Baby brother 401 will sell for $129 and has a 4.3-inch screen and four million preloaded POIs, while the $169 501 bumps it up to 4.7 inches and 12 million. Both have Mio’s newish “Spirit” interface, but we’re most intrigued by the repeated mentions of gas price searching and Google Send to GPS in the docs we were leaked, which suggest integration with a service like MSN Direct. We’ll find out soon — these are set to land in Radio Shack in mid-May.

New Palm Pre WebOS Screenshots Surface

pre-screen

PreThinking, the forward-looking Palm Pre dedicated blog, has been sent a fistful of new screenshots of the WebOS in full effect. The first thing that hits you is the design — these interfaces are polished and pretty. Whether this means that the Pre will be an iPhone killer (which everybody in the world but me seems to believe) or even successful enough to keep the debt-collectors from Palm’s door, remains to be seen.

As a quick fix to get your anticipatory juices flowing, though, the gallery is a good one, if a little hard to navigate. We’ve included a couple more pictures below.

LG Xenon appears in semi-unflattering photoshoot

LG’s Xenon has just shown up over at Smartphone Nation in an impromptu photoshoot, and it’s not looking too bad. There’s nothing out of the ordinary here — slideout QWERTY keyboard, resistive touchscreen, 2 megapixel camera — you get the idea, right? Seems to be expected on or around the month of April on AT&T, and we hear it will come in three colors — red, black and something else — and that it’ll run somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 after a mail in rebate. Of course, none of that’s official yet, so we’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we? One more shot after the break, hit the read link for the whole set.

QWERTY iDEN Motorola i465 official press shot leaked

Well, what do we have here? Yep, that’s the Motorola i465, the first iDEN phone with a full QWERTY keyboard in the entire universe in a seemingly official press shot. Mobile Review’s somehow gotten ahold of this slick piece of photography, which shows the dumbphone off in a much better light than we’ve previously seen. We still don’t know much else about the specs, or when this Sprint-Nextel bound puppy will show up.

Four previously unknown Acer phones spied in Barcelona

Well, these are not the Acer phones we saw leaked a few days ago — in fact, there are four new dudes here, all previously unseen. We know little about them, except that they are apparently on hand somewhere at MWC, and we hear that it’s possible they’re going to be unveiled today, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled for them. In the meantime, try to contain yourself and hit the read link for photos of the other two.
