Dell’s 2209WA just surfaced a few days ago, and already we’re seeing the first review of said panel courtesy of CNET‘s Australian branch. The 22-inch IPS display was said to boast “excellent color and viewing angles and great gaming performance” at a fantastic price point, with the only real knocks being the omission of 1:1 scaling and the inset design which occasionally caused reflections. Yeah, minor quibbles indeed. In fact, reviewers struggled to even find those, and they were downright giddy to hand out a 9 out of 10 rating along with this strongly worded quote: “This is the best 22-inch monitor we’ve seen.” ‘Nuff said, huh?

LCD goes green
with great image quality,
but too few features.

Comically enough, Samsung didn’t even bother telling us the panel size of its P2370L, but we’ll go out on a limb and assume it’s 23-inches diagonally based on the cryptic model name. The latest member of Sammy’s Touch of Color family sports a LED backlight, a depth of just 0.65-inches, 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, two-millisecond response time, DVI input, 1080p native resolution, a swivel stand and “Starlight” touch controls. If in fact we’re looking at a 23-inch LED-backlit LCD for just $399, we’d say it’s quite the bargain — particularly when compared to Apple’s 24-incher (which runs $899). Guess we’ll find out when it ships later this quarter.

Anyone who has had the pleasure of seeing Apple’s 24-inch LED Cinema Display knows that it’s hard to lay off on the touching. No one knows that better than Troll Touch, who has just announced a touch panel integration kit for Apple’s freshest LCD. The touchscreen gets powered internally via USB, and the custom touchscreen overlay design doesn’t alter the panel’s form factor in any way. Those looking to dive in from scratch can order a touch-enabled version now for $2,299, but those looking to simply upgrade their own can ship it to Valencia, California along with $1,399 marked for integration. Talk about a steep price to pay for permission to touch.

The monitor you see above was awfully close to becoming exactly like this, but thankfully, the wood gods spoke to Scuba_SM’s heart before he could round up another batch of Victorian-era tubing. The 22-inch wooden enclosure completely covers up the fact that an awkward looking LCD monitor is sitting on the table, and the solid maple top / base caps, light cherry stain and light coat of satin finish polyurethane make for something that’s actually enjoyable to gaze at. Overkill? Maybe. Classy? Yes, please.

Aside from completely melting our brains with 14 new HDTVs, Westinghouse is contributing an entirely more manageable number of LCD monitors to the scene here in Vegas. On the small end we’ve got the 20-inch L2031NW, which offers a 1,600 x 900 resolution, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 250 nits of brightness, inbuilt stereo speakers and HDMI / VGA / stereo audio inputs. The 22-inch L2220HW steps it up with a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, while the 24-inch L2427HW adds in twin HDMI inputs. The 26-inch L2635HW closes out the group with a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution, 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 300 nits of brightness, though prices for the lot aren’t yet available. Full specs are just after the break.

D-Link, the company best known for its workings in the networking space, is suddenly branching out into new territories. Taking a pretty noticeable cue from Nanovision, D-Link is debuting a secondary display today in Las Vegas. The 7-inch SideStage, which rocks a 800 x 480 resolution and can be used in either landscape or portrait mode, weighs just 1.34-pounds and gets all the juice it needs from a powered USB 2.0 socket. Regrettably, the outfit failed to disclose a price or release date, simply saying it would be on display at CES. Why the tease, D-Link?
