Acer’s 10-inch Aspire One 103 in photos

Acer’s 10-inch Aspire One isn’t exactly a secret, but we haven’t seen straight-on pictures of it yet — and glory be, it looks like the rumors of a revised trackpad button layout were true. Not only that, but it’s a multitouch model, so you’ll be ready for the Windows 7 party. Nothing spectacular other than that — you’re looking at a pretty standard 1.6GHz Atom, 1GB of RAM, optional 3G, SDHC card slot, and 3 USB ports. More pics at the read link.

HP rumored to have new Mini-notes on the way, father still unknown

While the Viviene Tam Edition Mini 1000 sure was pretty, it’s hardly what you’d call “new.” According to undisclosed sources cited by the always questionable DigiTimes, Hewlett-Packard is toying with the idea of bringing a few new infants to market in the Mini-note line. If all goes to plan, a WWAN-enabled Mini-note 2150 (13.3-inch, presumably) will hit the scene in early June. For what it’s worth, a new 11.6-inch model is also mentioned, and as expected, the whole crew (however large) is apt to arrive with Intel Atom’s within. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see, folks.

Telegent Chip Integrates DTV for Laptops, But Not Here

Telegent%27s%20TLG2300.JPGTelegent Systems on Friday announced the TLG2300, a single-chip analog/DTV receiver, which the company plans to sell to notebook and netbook makers.

While this may sound intriguing, Telegent still isn’t developing chips around the U.S. ATSC standard, but rather the DVB-T standard used in Europe, Australia, and parts of southeast Asia.

Like its predecessor, the TLG2300 includes support for the NTSC/PAL/SECAM analog standard, but with the U.S. kinda/sorta turning off analog TV signals on Feb. 17, the importance of that feature remains somewhat in doubt. (There continues to be growing concern over whether or not Americans will stage some sort of mass revolt if they can’t receive “American Idol” over their analog rabbit ears.)

Sony’s VAIO P gets unpocketed, unboxed

We’ve seen the VAIO P‘s sexy little case, but we’ve yet to witness the corrugated box in which it resides. Until now, obviously. As the rear pocket stuffing theme trucks on without any signs of stopping, the lucky souls over at AkihabaraNews managed to get ahold of a fully packaged model in order to completely unwrap it on camera. The full gallery’s down there in the read link — don’t pretend like you’re not heading over to check it out.

Archos 10 netbook sits down for a photo shoot

The Archos 10 netbook was loosed into the crowds early this morning, and already Laptop has a hands-on up. Comically enough, this 10-inch machine is actually the largest product ever launched by the company, as it generally focuses on handheld PMPs and the like. Specs wise, it’s about as vanilla as they come, and design wise, it’s overwhelmingly simple. For those with a deep appreciation of matte black and a love for software geared towards multimedia freaks, head on down to the read link for a video and photo gallery.

Details on Intel Atom N280 begin to surface, are short on excitement

Sure, the Atom N270 has done great things for humanity during its brief tenure powering pretty much every netbook that comes down the pipes, but it’s time for a change, and it looks like the N280 from Intel — already slated for a couple Eee PCs — could provide just the sort of marginal boost we’re looking for. The single core chip bests the N270’s 1.6GHz clock with blazing 1.66GHz speeds, and a 667MHz bus over the original’s 533MHz. What could perhaps be much more interesting is the promised Intel GN40 chipset that accompanies the N280, which there’s currently very little info on, but hopefully does a little bit towards competing with NVIDIA’s ION — or at least pepping up that game of solitaire we’ve been working on.

[Thanks, Jagslive]

Uninspired Archos 10 netbook announced

Archos is totally getting in on the netbook game with the announcement of their own branded model (actually just a re-packaged Hasee MJ125), the Archos 10. This little 10.2-incher (with 1024 x 600 resolution) is going to pack a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive, with a 3-cell battery, WiFi, and three USB ports — nothing to get too excited about, for sure, but we’ll wait with breath bated for word on pricing and availability.

Mouse Computer’s new netbook sports DVD-Rom, little else of note

We saw Mouse Computer switch gears with their gaming notebook the other day, and the company is back already with the LB-F1500W. Their first netbook with an optical DVD drive, this little terror “boasts” a 10.2-inch display, 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB memory, 160GB hard disk storage, and Windows XP Home. These are pretty run-of-the-mill specs, and for ¥64,800 (roughly $725) not really all that awesome. Available in two colors — gothic-industrial black and a white as pure as the new fallen snow — the thing should hit the streets on or around the last week of January.
