If there’s a party, MSI’s going. And if there’s a bandwagon, MSI‘s onboard. It’s with this knowledge firmly entrenched in our brains that we present the FR600 3D. If you’ll recall, Intel actually tossed this name out awhile back when trumpeting its latest integrated graphics chipset, but now it’s the proud papa’s turn to make things official. This 15.6-incher is equipped with the expected 3D support, a Core i5 processor, up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, HDMI / VGA outputs, a 320/500/640GB hard drive, DVD SuperMulti drive, two USB 2.0 sockets, a 4-in-1 card reader and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR. You’ll also get 802.11b/g/n WiFi, a gigabit Ethernet socket, inbuilt webcam and a six-cell Li-ion battery, not to mention a bundled set of 3D glasses to really get immersed in whatever it is you’re doing. Per usual, the company’s keeping quiet on the pricing and release front, but surely it’ll be out by Christmastime. Surely.

With a name like Munk Bogballe, it has to be pricey… right? Right. 2.5 years after launching what’s likely the most expensive MacBook of all time, the aforesaid purveyor of fine, fine mobile computers has introduced its Classic Bespoke collection — at the Millionaire Fair in Moscow, no less. So, what does a base price of €5,200 ($7,180) buy you? A 5.1 pound slab of aluminum, accented with lush leather, a mahogany screen frame, freshwater pearl on / off button and oodles of gold. Oh, and a single line of diamonds, presumably for squeezing out six to ten more frames per second in Portal. You may also expect to get only the latest and greatest when it comes to technology, but you’d be badly mistaken; the standard configuration ships with a Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM and a paltry 500GB hard drive. If you’re hot for an SSD, ostrich leather or an 18 carat gold power button, that’ll be extra. Not like you really care, Mr. Millionaire.

It looks about like every other MSI 15.6-incher out there, but for those who prefer classy over vivacious, he GE603 might just be right down your alley. Designed primary as a multimedia laptop with the ability to handle a modest amount of demanding games, this here rig will be available with a Core i5-460M, i5-450M or i5-430M processor, NVIDIA’s GeForce GT 425M (1GB), HDMI and VGA outputs, a 320/500/640GB hard drive, a DVD burner, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and a foursome of USB 2.0 sockets. You’ll also find 802.11b/g/n WiFi, an ExpressCard reader, 5-in-1 card reader, gigabit Ethernet and up to 8GB of DDR3 memory. As you’d expect, Windows 7 is running the show, and the nine-cell Li-ion should keep it humming for at least a couple of hours. Per usual, MSI’s not serving up details regarding a price or release date, but we both know it’s aiming to have it on store shelves pre-Christmas.

Is it actually possible to construct an 18.4-inch gaming laptop that isn’t unsightly? Our bets are on no (unless HP’s Envy line creeps up a bit in size), but as your mum always proclaimed, it’s the beauty on the inside that truly counts. Following in the footsteps of Eurocom’s frighteningly similar X8100 Leopard, the Lesance GSN801GAW packs an 18.4-inch display (1920 x 1080 resolution), a potent quad-core 1.73GHz Core i7 940XM Extreme Edition CPU, 8GB of DDR3-1333 memory and your choice of an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480M (2GB) or two ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870’s in CrossFire. There’s also a Blu-ray burner, 160GB worth of SSD (in a RAID 0 configuration), USB 3.0 sockets, Windows 7 Home Premium, an ExpressCard slot, multicard reader, HDMI / DVI output, gigabit Ethernet, WiFi and an inbuilt webcam. Naturally, an ideal runtime is but 1.5 hours, and it weighs just over a dozen pounds — if neither of those tidbits faze you, it’ll be topping out soon in Japan for ¥439,800 ($5,420).

Acer has just issued a new line of netbooks catering to those still stuck in the 70s, with the flower-powered Aspire One Happy range offering the most delightful lids of any netbook, ever. This 10.1-inch machine packs a WSVGA panel, six-cell battery (up to eight hours of battery life), Atom N450 CPU, GMA 3150 GPU, 250GB hard drive, WiFi, 2GB of memory and inbuilt Bluetooth. It also supports dual booting (Windows 7 and Android 2.1), but the highlight of the show is the abundance of color options: Candy Pink, Lavender Purple, Lime Green and Hawaii Blue. All four hues are available now across the pond for £249.99 ($397), but mum’s the word on a stateside release. But don’t worry… be happy.
