Finally, an honest to goodness picture of what may well be the sweetest BlackBerry RIM has pushed out to date. Featuring keyboard styling taken from its chubbier friend, the BlackBerry Bold, and the sleeker lines of the Curve 8900, this certainly looks like a recipe for success. If you’re a BlackBerry user on Verizon, we’d say major celebration is in order if this wanders your way in the near future. We still only have the info we posted last week about it, but as the hype spins up, we expect the leaks will, too.

Sure, the pic’s getting old at this point, but according to the Boy Genius Report, we may not have too much longer to wait to catch the 9630 Niagara in the wild. The radio department in the 9630 is filled to busting — or slowly warming your face — with CDMA, EV-DO Rev.A, GSM, GPRS, EDGE, and UMTS, with the GSM flavors getting the quad-band treatment. The rumored OS at launch is 4.7.1, though if delayed enough, it could pull through with OS 5.0. The last tidbits in the list are a 3.2 megapixel shooter — and maybe a version without — and the depressing news of no specific release date. Though, If we were Verizon and were sitting on this, you’d like to think that our timeline to launch would be as soon as frickin’ possible.

If you’re the type of individual who can never decide between the Cobb salad, the lobster bisque, and the sesame prawns and end up ordering all three, take note — your phone has arrived. The long-rumored LG Versa lets you have your cake and eat it too by starting life as a full touchscreen slate, and when the time comes for some serious emailing, texting, or notetaking, you just snap on the included cover that includes a full QWERTY keyboard. The cover also features its own OLED display — handy, since the Versa’s 480 x 240 main display is concealed while the cover’s closed — while the phone itself rocks EV-DO Rev. A with tethering capability, a 2 megapixel cam with face detection and video recording, microSD expansion, and GPS. It’ll be available starting March 1 for $249.99 on contract before a $50 mail-in rebate.

Word on the street was, when Apple was working to release the iPhone, the company approached Verizon with the possibility of carrying the handset exclusively. Of course, that didn’t happen–and considering how well the phone has sold over the past two years, it’s hard not to imagine some Verizon exec kicking him- or herself behind boardroom doors.

According to a new rumor, though, Apple is ready to try the wireless carrier once again, having overestimated AT&T’s coverage of the national wireless market. Without expanding to another carrier, the iPhone doesn’t have much hope of competing with the likes of BlackBerry.

Inside sources have apparently been tipping off a number of blogs, including 9 to 5 Mac, about the move. It’s certainly in line with the company’s recent attempts to hire on EVDO and CDMA experts.

The Versa could end up being one of the more fascinating North American devices to launch this year, and it turns out that Dooney & Burke agrees. New documentation arriving on our doorstep this week indicates that Verizon’s launch of the unusually adaptable device will be supported by fashion accessories from Liz Claiborne and Dooney & Burke, not to mention the usual host of water resistant, sport, and plain leather cases to keep your multi-hundred dollar investment safe from harm. More importantly, though, we’re seeing that it’ll launch on March 1 in all sales channels for $199.99 on contract after a $50 rebate — but that funky dedicated game pad controller will set you back another $29.99, and you better get it while the getting’s good since it’s labeled as a “limited stock” item. Can’t get caught playing Monopoly without a dedicated 8-way pad, can you?
