Hasta La Gadget!

We’d heard October. We heard Europe in October. We heard next month. Now, Neowin cites anonymous sources that Windows Phone 7 will arrive in the UK, France, Spain, Germany and Italy on precisely October 21st, and is preparing a good deal of marketing fanfare to support a fancy October 11th unveiling in New York City. We can’t say whether the rumor’s correct, but it’s certainly picking up steam, as these particular numbers were independently reported by Pocket-lint and the Spanish publication El Economista earlier this month as well. Now all we need is an alleged US release date — misery loves company, right?

Update: Microsoft expert Paul Thurrott says that while Redmond’s indeed holding an October 11th shindig in NYC, it’s not a Windows Phone event… but his source tells him the long-lost US launch date is actually November 8th. Imagine that!

We knew Windows Phone 7 leaks would increase as we got closer to launch, but this is just ridiculous. LG’s E900, or what we knew as the E900 until now, has been subjected to an exhaustingly detailed hands-on overview, courtesy of some intrepid Czech investigators. Alas, the video is voiced over in that language too, so good luck with your Eastern European phonetics. But hey, at least the visuals are universal. Oh, and before we forget, the MobilMania guys are calling this the LG Optimus 7, presumably that’ll be the retail name for this handset. Follow the break to see it.

HTC Trophy isn’t an entirely new name ’round these here parts — in fact, we’ve seen it twice now on two documents that have propagated the internet before their respective time. But this is the first claimed sighting of such a device, and according to Pocketnow, what we’re looking at is indeed the Trophy itself, packed with Windows Phone 7. And that’s about all we can say here, as there’s no indication of price, release date, or if this is actually one of the many other WP7 devices HTC has cooking. At any rate, have no fear, the manufacturer’s all but guaranteed to bring you numerous options from which to choose.

Believe it or not, we know most everything about the Samsung’s Windows Phone 7-powered Cetus — what it looks like, where it’s going and what’s inside, despite never seeing the device invoke a single pane of that Metro UI. Well, that’s just changed with a new video from WMPowerUser, who tricked with WP7 program manager Charlie Kindel showing off his personal device — albeit running a humble garage door opener app and thumbing through the dialer rather than showing a potent program of some sort. Still, that 4-inch AMOLED screen is very much in attendance, as you can see from the saturated orange squares above, and we’ll just have to hope the last pieces of the Cetus puzzle — release date and price — come together in good time. Update: It appears this is actually a clip from Microsoft’s internal Channel 9 crew, going behind-the-scenes with part of the Windows Phone 7 team, as many have noted in comments. We’ve updated our links to reflect that.

Uh, oh, looks like Verizon has indeed distanced itself from Microsoft after the Kin debacle: the carrier confirmed to Bloomberg Businessweek today that it won’t offer any Windows Phone 7 devices at launch this year, instead waiting until 2011 to support the new OS. That certainly ties right in with AT&T’s claims that it’ll be the “premier carrier” for Windows Phone 7 and the flood of Blue-tinted device leaks we’ve seen, but it also leaves Microsoft in a seemingly tough spot to start — we haven’t heard more than the slightest whisper about WP7 devices on Sprint or T-Mobile yet, and until we do it’s going to be the iPhone and WP7 head-to-head on Ma Bell while Android continues to dig in everywhere else. We’ll see — this launch can’t come quickly enough.
