My all-time favorite remote usually sells for $250. To get it for half that, you’ll need to wait on a rebate–or not, if you go the refurb route. pOriginally posted at a href=”http://news.cnet.com/8301-13845_3-20008587-58.html” class=”origPostedBlog”The Cheapskate/a/p

So much of our lives is on our cell phones now that being without your phone can leave you feeling helpless. If you struggle to get through the workday when you leave your phone at home, consider the Brignrr. This tiny gadget does one small but essential task: it alerts you when you forget your phone.
The Bringrr plugs into your car’s power outlet and communicates with your phone via Bluetooth. You leave the Bringrr plugged in, and when you start up your car it checks to see if your phone is present. If so, no problem. But if it doesn’t detect the phone, it gives you an audible alert. There’s no additional software and nothing to charge. The $34.99 list price is a little high, but for some it’ll be completely worth it.
Take that, EA! Now Gameloft’s getting in on the 99-cent action, though only for seven of its games. Good stuff, though, and too good to pass up! pOriginally posted at a href=”http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-20008570-233.html” class=”origPostedBlog”iPhone Atlas/a/p

Lenovo IdeaPad smartbook appears, powered by Freescale and Pegatron
Posted in: arm, lenovo, Today's ChiliWhen Lenovo decided to shelve the Skylight smartbook, there were many tears here at Engadget HQ, but it seems the company’s ambitions continue in the smartphone-turned-netbook realm. Notebook Italia reports that a new Lenovo IdeaPad has surfaced at the Freescale Technology Forum this week, powered by a Freescale i.MX515 SoC with an 800MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, smartphone-esque battery life, and a power management system reportedly robust enough that it doesn’t even need to be cooled. If all this sounds rather familiar, it might be because you’ve seen it before — it appears Lenovo simply tweaked the low-power Pegatron reference design that we wrote about early last year. Not that we’re complaining or anything.

Posted in: e-books, ipad, tablets, Today's Chili
DC comics are now available from Comixology, the commercial comic book reader for iOS devices and the web. The second of the big two publishers joins Marvel, Vertigo, Dark Horse and a slew of smaller publishers and imprints to make Comixology the easiest place to find e-comics.

Comixology doesn’t offer every comic you might want, nor even every new release, but the addition of DC at least means there is one place to go on, say, you iPad no matter what you are looking for. Now you can buy (and in some cases download free) series like Batman (including the superb Batman Year One), Frank Quitely’s All Star Superman, Neil Gaiman’s Sandman, Green Lantern and others.
Best of all, Comixology is free in the App Store and online. And if you don’t care to download DRM’ed content of any kind, check out out list of the best Comic Apps for the iPad which can be loaded with your own scans.
