Nexus S torn asunder, its curves laid out on display

You’ve already seen ninjas take on the Nexus S box, now see the device laid out component-by-component, thrashed by some sick and twisted individual. Nothing too crazy to see here, except perhaps the awesome curves of the front display laid out (another shot after the break). It’s interesting to note that only the front panel is actually curved — “the rest of the components are flat as a board, just as any other phone on the market.” Hope that doesn’t ruin any dreams you might’ve had. Check out the Full Monty over at iFixit.

China launches state-sponsored, Twitter-esque Red Microblog, Kanye West already has the most followers

China has launched a state-sponsored micro-blogging site which is apparently identical to Twitter, except that it’s run by the Chinese government, of course. The brand new social network, named Red Microblog, is run by a local propaganda department in Chongqing and its purpose is to promote the official revolutionary spirit of the Chinese government. So far, the messages seem to be living up to that ideal: “I really like the words by Chairman Mao that ‘the world is ours; we should work together’,” microblogged Bo Xilai, a local party secretary. Of course, Red Microblog does has not yet suffered from the inevitable influx of celebrities with inane aphorisms to dish out, b-listers hawking diet scams, and of course — people talking about their lunches, the weather, and whether or not Tron is going to totally rule. Come to thing of it, Red Microblog sounds pretty awesome. For now.

Natali is back from her burrito-tour of San Francisco and hops back into the studio for the last Natali Thursday of 2010! Today’s headlines include a video game controlled by your urine, a porn company making your Microsoft Kinect 3D sex simulation dreams come true, the most successful pickup lines according to geographic location, and we reveal the most irritating word of the year!

Sega finally unveils a video game that non-gamers like myself can enjoy, because the objective is to pee all over the game. Sega Toys is testing a new minigame in Japan called Toirrettsu that comes with a sensor that can measure the speed of urination and score games accordingly.

Japan hopes that the game will encourage people to take better aim in the bathroom, but Jeff tells us that America already has its own version of the pissing match.

You’ve been waiting for it since the day Microsoft unveiled the Kinect motion control accessory, and we’ve finally arrived: after two months, adult software vendor ThriXXX released a statement today describing forthcoming Kinect-powered software that will use gestures, spoken commands, and objects in a sexual gaming environment. This segment of the show is worth watching the video for Natali’s gestures alone!

According to a survey from online dating site Badoo, the secret of international dating is to spout localized pick-up lines.

The site’s “Compliment Success Index” analyzed over 200,000 online conversations in 11 languages to determine the best opening line for women from different countries. So the next time you’re in a United Nations Security Council caucus, be sure to compliment that Portuguese woman on her perfect ears!

VIZIO’s 65-inch Theater 3D TV with passive glasses is official, launches this month

If the current crop of active shutter 3D televisions isn’t your style and you’d prefer some cheaper specs, say hello to VIZIO’s new 65-inch Theater 3D Razor XVT3D650SV LED set, its biggest TV yet. Previously spotted lurking about on the manufacturer’s website, this set uses cheap polarized glasses like the ones in most movie theaters unlike the more expensive (and, according to the press release, more prone to dimming and flickering) active shutter glasses used on most televisions today, including a few of VIZIO’s own. Beyond that, it’s a 120Hz edge lit LED LCD set that comes with four pairs of glasses and also includes VIZIO Internet Apps and SRS TruSurround integrated speakers. The downside for the cheap glasses however, is that most of the cost is in the display itself ratcheting the price up to $3,499 when it arrives on Sam’s Club shelves this month — until then, check the details in the press release after the break.

Pakistani Company Uses WikiLeaks to Sell Feminine Pads

wikileaks_napkins.jpg

WikiLeaks means a lot of very different things to a lot of very different people. But this? Well, this is just…different… A Pakistani company is invoking the name of the controversial whistle blowing site in a new ad for its feminine hygiene product, the Butterfly.

Thanks to advertising agency RG Blue Communications, there are now a number of billboards in the country’s financial capital of Karachi carrying the slogan, “WikiLeaks … Butterfly doesn’t.”

The agency claims to have “received a very good response,” thanks in no small part to the fact that it’s gone viral via Twitter and Facebook. RG Blue’s art director Munir Bhatti explains the ad thusly, “I could have also shown a girl like other ads have. But the idea was to make it very different and to use the word WikiLeaks–and that’s what this is.”

Fair enough, Munir. Fair Enough.

Julian Assange Freed on Bail

Thumbnail image for julian-assange.jpg

“It’s great to smell fresh air again,” Julian Assange told a crowd, greeted by camera flashes and enthusiastic cheers. After eight nights in jail, the Australian-born founder of WikiLeaks founder had a small but detectable smile on his face.

Assange had been kept in solitary confinement in a Victorian British prison after being charged with sexual assault by two women in Sweden. The Internet activist used the opportunity to thank a list of people (though none by name), including his supporters, lawyers, and members of the press.

He also thanked the British justice system, stating, “If justice is not always an outcome, at least it is not dead yet.” Freed on bail, Assange is expected to stay at the home of journalist Vaughan Smith.

Chumby releases Android app, not quite as plush as the original

Chumby isn’t just taking its platform to dedicated devices from other manufacturers, it’s also moving to software — a strategy that right out of Amazon’s playbook now that Kindle is available on just about every computer and handheld under the sun. The company’s new Android app simply connects to your Chumby account and lets you view and use the same Flash-based apps that you would on any other Chumby device, a testament to the fact that pretty much every Android handset hitting the market these days comes Flash-capable out of the box. Chumby says that the app works best for tablets and docked devices — which makes sense when you think of how you’d use a Sony Dash or Chumby One — and conveniently, you can set it to automatically show up as a screen saver whenever your phone is docked. Look for it in the Market right now for $4.99; follow the break for the full press release.
