Want to stay connected with the latest technology news? We’ve experienced a lot of growth over the last year, and we thought that now was a perfect time to explain to our new and old readers alike, how to stay connected and get involved with CyberNet News. Hopefully this list will prove useful and you’ll find the method(s) that work best for you.

RSS

Stay connected to CyberNet via RSS which stands for “Really Simple Syndication.” Using RSS, you can keep up with the daily news in a more automated fashion.

There are a handful of different RSS Readers that you can use, with one of the most popular being Google Reader. Other popular readers are Bloglines, and NewsGator. And then there are personalized home pages like Netvibes and iGoogle that work as well. Any RSS reader will do, just find one that you like.

To subscribe to the CyberNet feed, just click the orange RSS icon in the address bar, or click here and select your favorite service.

Email

Maybe RSS just isn’t your thing? You can subscribe via email and receive a daily morning email. Just enter your email address in the email field in the sidebar.

Forum

One of the best ways to get involved here is in the forum! There you’ll find a sampling of just about any topic possible, although movies seems to be a hot topic there lately. There’s a group of “regulars” who hang out there, along with Ryan and I. There’s also the occasional visitor who stops by to ask a question. Feel free to join right in on the conversations! Sometimes it’s nice to step away from the tech talk, and discuss other things, although you’ll still find plenty of tech related topics there.

In a recent discussion, some of the members talked about why they like the CyberNet Forum. Here are some of their responses:

Al Hutchison: “This forum is unique in that it provides a place for us to seek help, share experiences, and just have fun on a wide variety of topics.  They support the Golden Rule that there is no such thing as a stupid question (even though I think it is for me asking) and the folks here provide an honest and helpful answer.”

Chris Rossini: In the CyberNet forum, we’ve got a bunch of people who consistently show respect for one another. We talk about everything related to tech…and every once in awhile we get off topic…but it’s all good. The forum consists of a great group of people, and I look forward to everyone’s opinion each day.

XPGeek: I never feel judged or pressured about anything, and I like all the people here. We’re like this little band of geeks, but we’re all different and we all have our areas of expertise if you will. Like one of us could recite Ubuntu  commands with his eyes closed probably, and another one of us knows everything there is to know about Firefox.

We’re coming up on 8,000 posts, and nearly 300 members in the forum. We’d love for you to become a part of it. I’d say everybody is pretty laid back and happy to help with a problem or question no matter how large or small it may be. You can access the forum from the link in the navigation bar, or you can get a sneak peak at forum topics in the sidebar.

Another way to get involved is simply to comment and share your opinion or offer expertise. Every comment is always appreciated and valued. On the blog here, it’s easy to comment because it doesn’t require registration, and if you want to keep yourself anonymous, you can. You don’t even have to provide an email address!

MyBlogLog is a newer way to stay connected in the blogosphere. With the recent CyberNet redesign, we have moved MyBlogLog to the footer. It’s there, you just have to scroll down to see it. Feel free to join the CyberNet Community!

No one said bathing the great United States in LTE would be easy, but the hits just keep on coming for Falcone and co. Following up on reports and concerns about LightSquared’s possible interference, a government study has found that the outfit’s proposed broadband network does indeed impede GPS signals. According to the National PNT Engineering Forum, the federal advisory group that conducted the study, LiqhtSquared’s network disrupted GPS signals for all of the devices tested in the area. The report lists OnStar, Garmin, John Deere, emergency services, the FAA, and NASA among those affected by interference. Both LightSquared and the GPS industry are scheduled to present their own tests for the FCC’s consideration next week. The news isn’t exactly shocking, but it certainly doesn’t bode well for the ambitious LTE network.
